The checks will go out to individuals making under $150,000 a year and families making under $300,000 a year based on their 2023 tax return. <\/p>\n
Individuals and families will receive the checks if they fall under the following fiscal thresholds: <\/p>\n
Families making under $150,000: $400<\/p>\n
Families making between $150,000 and $300,000: $300<\/p>\n
Individuals making under $75,000: $200<\/p>\n
Individual making between $75,000 and $150,000: $150\u00a0<\/p>\n
Hochul has framed the handouts as a \u201crefund\u201d to New Yorkers after the state received higher-than-projected sales tax revenues as inflation shot up over the last few years.<\/p>\n

Fiscal experts have widely panned the effort, especially at a time when Hochul continues to preside over runaway state spending. <\/p>\n
Spending has increased 21% \u2014\u00a0$45 billion \u2014 since she took office, and the state is facing a $34 billion structural deficit over the next three years.<\/p>\n
