OKLAHOMA CITY \u2014 Thoroughbred Season at Remington Park<\/a> opens Aug. 8, and several popular attractions will return to the park. The 62-race date season, which runs through Dec. 20, includes Oklahoma Derby Week<\/a> festivities, Oklahoma Classics<\/a> and the return of the Extreme Holiday Showdown<\/a> as well as a special commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the property\u2019s casino opening in November.\n<\/p>\n The season features major stakes races in the Grade 3, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby and the $300,000 Remington Park Springboard Mile<\/a>. A new addition to Oklahoma Derby Day this season is the $250,000 Great West Turf Sprint<\/a>, the first major turf sprint stakes in track history.\n<\/p>\n Oklahoma Derby Week<\/p>\n The Oklahoma Derby Week includes various events<\/a> leading up to Oklahoma Derby Day on Sept. 28. The Grade 3, $400,000 Oklahoma Derby attracts top Thoroughbreds<\/a> from around the country and could include Kentucky Derby runners from this year, including the 2024 Springboard Mile winner Coal Battle. The day\u2019s purses total over $1 million, spread across eight stakes races. Other Oklahoma Derby Week events include a Riders Cup Charity Golf Tournament at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 22.<\/p>\n Oklahoma Derby Hat & Bowtie Contest from 3 to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 pits racing fans against one another in a derby attire contest. From 3 to 7 p.m., Oklahoma Derby Day Wine Festival<\/a> will bring together some of Oklahoma\u2019s best wineries with a portion of proceeds benefitting Remington Park Charities<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n Oklahoma Classics <\/p>\n Oklahoma Classics on Oct. 17 is a night to celebrate the state\u2019s racing industry, with over $1.1 million in purses for races exclusively involving Oklahoma-bred Thoroughbreds.\n<\/p>\n Extreme Holiday Showdown <\/p>\n Thoroughbred Season takes a festive turn when holiday characters, such as the Grinch, Buddy the Elf and Santa Claus, as well as adoptable dogs and jockeys on stick horses race down the track between live Thoroughbred racing events. The evening also includes holiday treats, booths from participating Remington Park Charities and a Merry Market with local vendors. Entertainment and activities begin at 5 p.m. and all are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n Racing during the 2025 Thoroughbred Season starts at 6 p.m., Thursdays through Saturdays. Beginning Dec. 3, racing on Wednesdays starts at 6 p.m. Special races during the season include the Oklahoma Derby, which begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 28, and the Springboard Mile, which begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20.\n<\/p>\n
