Castleford Tigers have announced the signing of Hull FC forward Jack Ashworth, as Ryan Carr continues to build his squad for 2026.<\/p>\n
The 30 year old, who was released by the Black and Whites at the end of this season, becomes the Tigers\u2019 sixth signing ahead of 2026, with notable names such as Mikaele Ravalawa and Semi Valemei already confirmed to be making the move to West Yorkshire next year.<\/p>\n
Ashworth, who will join on a two-year deal,\u00a0 joins former FC teammate Jordan Lane in switching to the Onebore Stadium<\/a>, as Chris Chester works alongside incoming boss Carr to rebuild the squad following an extremely poor 2025 season.<\/p>\n Starting his career at St Helens, Ashworth has made over 100 Super League appearances, with two seasons at Huddersfield Giants sandwiched in between the Red Vee and the Black and Whites. He won the Grand Final on 2019 with the Red Vee, and brings experience to a pack that was battered and underperformed in the majority of matches this year.<\/p>\n Making headlines in the Hull derby earlier this year, Tigers fans will have to wait a little while longer to see their new man in action, with the forward currently serving a seven-game ban<\/a> for an incident involving Hull KR\u2019s Mikey Lewis.<\/p>\n Besides that, however, Ashworth has had a strong season under John Cartwright, appearing in all bar one match this year up to his suspension.<\/p>\n Serious About Rugby League has launched a brand new podcast which can be watched in full on our\u00a0YouTube channel here<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ex-Hull FC man excited for \u201cfresh start\u201d at new club<\/p>\n Speaking to the Tigers\u2019 website following the announcement, Ashworth said: \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to getting started. It\u2019s a fresh start and with the rebrand and players they\u2019ve signed it\u2019s an exciting time for the club, and it\u2019s a privilege to be part of the journey.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll give everything I have each week, and hopefully I can pass on some help along the way to others while continuing to improve myself. I know the fan base is proud and passionate, and I am looking forward to meeting everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n Director of Rugby Chris Chester, who has been in interim charge since Danny McGuire was sacked earlier this year, said: \u201cJack adds some much-needed size to our forward pack for 2026. He\u2019s athletic, has good leg speed and plays the game tough through the middle.
