One of Neindorf\u2019s winning horses, Ferivia, stamped a golden ticket to the Group 1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) following her Thousand Guineas Prelude (1400m) victory on Saturday.<\/p>\n
The jockey admitted that he is not surprised at how the Phillip Stokes trained filly has secured herself into a Group 1 race.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve always liked this horse from the first day I sat on her,\u201d Neindorf said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI remember Phil came over one day and I said to Phil, ‘This is gonna be a really nice filly this.’<\/p>\n
\u201cI said, ‘I\u2019m gonna have a lot of fun with her.’<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s always given you that feel of a nice horse.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s no surprise that she\u2019s doing what she\u2019s doing.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s just got qualities that good horses show \u2013 she\u2019s tough, she ticked the 1400m box on a strong tempo.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ferivia held on by 0.06 lengths against Ole Dancer and some pundits were claiming that Ole Dancer would\u2019ve won if the race was one stride longer.<\/p>\n
Neindorf backed up the filly, stating that most other horses wouldn\u2019t have been able to do what she did, if they had the exact preparation that Ferivia has had.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, she was rock-hard fit, and it was a blanket finish, and you can look at it and say, \u2018Another stride and we get beat by Ole Dancer.\u2019\u201d the jockey said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s all good and well, but at the end of the day it\u2019s her first racing preparation, she\u2019s fifth-up and she\u2019s come over from Adelaide.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think if any other horse in that race had the same prep that she had, they might\u2019ve been looking to lay down at the 400m mark.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s very tough and she\u2019ll push onto the (Thousand) Guineas and be a leading contender in there, but I don\u2019t think any of us are going to be disappointed any which way.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe\u2019s done an enormous job this preparation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think the best of her is still gonna be in a prep\u2019s time \u2013 possibly in the Autumn she\u2019s gonna be furnished into a really nice horse.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ferivia is currently $11 (on Sportsbet) in the Thousand Guineas.<\/p>\n
