defence spokesperson Thomas Regnier summed up last Friday\u2019s meeting on the EU\u2019s proposed \u201cdrone wall\u201d as \u201ca productive initial exchange,\u201d saying that \u201cnext steps \u2026 need to be discussed with other member states in a broader format.\u201d<\/p>\n But he uses very careful language on shooting down anything that violates the \u201cdrone wall,\u201d as he says they\u2019d rather go under the blanket and wait.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cSo it\u2019s about explaining every day [our actions], about supporting Ukraine and facing the threat, making clear to ourselves it low.\u201d<\/p>\n He says that\u2019s why the EU needs to move ahead with its drone wall project, with special radars and sensors to respond to this issue.<\/p>\n He says there are perhaps legitimate questions as to why Europe<\/a> failed to anticipate these problems and develop such infrastructure in time to be able to better respond to latest incidents.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s perhaps quite natural, psychologically, when you\u2019re not hit by the crisis,\u201d he says, but adds he hopes to be able to move faster now.<\/p>\n But Germany\u2019s Pistorius says that there is need for \u201cexpectation management\u201d there, as the drone wall won\u2019t be fully realised within the next few years.<\/p>\n \u201cI think we need more capabilities \u2026 and that means drone defence,\u201d but not only through \u201ca drone wall,\u201d but also \u201cquicker in development\u201d and procurement of other solutions and weapons.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is from my perspective very The alliance has responded to Russia\u2019s provocations with clarity, unity, resolve and prudence.
