The 10-year-old son of Medaglia d’Oro previously stood at Darby Dan Farm in Lexington, Ky., where he entered stud in 2021. His first foals are 3-year-olds of 2025.<\/p>\n
From two crops of racing age, Higher Power has sired 28 winners and compiled progeny earnings in excess of $1.2 million. His runners are led by the stakes-placed Aintafraidtodream.<\/p>\n
During his own on-track career, Higher Power won five of 20 starts and earned $1,594,648. Trained by John Sadler for owner Hronis Racing, his resume was highlighted by a victory in the Grade 1 Pacific Classic, which was followed two starts later by a third in the 2019 Breeders’ Cup Classic.<\/p>\n
Bred in Kentucky by Pin Oak Stud, Higher Power is out of the Grade 2-placed stakes-winning Seattle Slew mare Alternate, making him a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Alternation and stakes winner Interrupted. <\/p>\n
Alternate is herself a half-sister to Canadian Horse of the Year Peaks and Valleys, with an extended family that includes champion Forever Together, Grade 1 winner Mucho Gusto, Grade 2 winner Broken Vow, Grade 3 winner Equality, and stakes-winning sire Service Stripe.<\/p>\n
