Cam Wurf is finally going to have a rest from IRONMAN racing!<\/p>\n

The popular Aussie, who was also a pro bike rider until this season, has been racking up the triathlon race miles in 2025.<\/p>\n

And while American star Sam Long<\/a> eventually decided against a \u2018Dirty Dog Double\u2019<\/a> of IRONMAN Chattanooga just two weeks after the IRONMAN World Championships in Nice, Wurf went for it \u2013 and excelled.<\/p>\n

In what was his fourth full-distance race of the season, he once again animated the bike leg along with Rasmus Svenningsson as that duo were the only two to go below four hours.<\/p>\n

That saw them start the run in first and second and that was how it would finish as the pair claimed the two Kona 2026 slots available, though Wurf had to work hard to hold off Trevor Foley and Jesper Svensson.<\/p>\n

Kona rematch \u2013 in 54 weeks!<\/p>\n

It proved to be the perfect way for Wurf to sign off his triathlon season as he wrote on Instagram<\/a>: \u201cWhatever I had left in the tank for 2025 certainly ain\u2019t in the tank anymore\ud83d\ude2b<\/p>\n

\u201cCongrats to\u00a0@rasmusstri<\/a>\u00a0on a bulldozing win. When you get rolling, there\u2019s nothing stopping you. Looking forward to a rematch in Kona in 54 weeks time\ud83d\ude0e\u201d<\/p>\n

Next year sees the both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s races on the same day in Hawaii for the first time since 2022.<\/p>\n

And while Wurf is now 42, he still feels he can be a factor at Kona next year at a venue where he has three top 10s to his name, including a seventh last year \u2013 which he followed a week later by clocking 2:36 at the New York Marathon<\/a>!<\/p>\n

\u2018Earned not given\u2019<\/p>\n

Looking back at how IRONMAN Chattanooga played out, Wurf added: \u201cI spent the day flirting between feeling fresh, f***d, flying, & flagging. All the while I had\u00a0@tfoleyracing<\/a>\u00a0breathing down my neck fighting for the final Kona Slot available. In Ironman, it\u2019s earned not given. Thanks my man for never giving up despite your struggles out there, I\u2019ll cherish this tussle, you\u2019re pure class\ud83d\ude4c<\/p>\n

\u201cTo the city of Chattanooga, the supporters, the volunteers, my fellow athletes, you all contributed to an incredible atmosphere. I hope you enjoyed the show we put on.<\/p>\n
