{"id":169693,"date":"2025-09-30T05:15:08","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T05:15:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/169693\/"},"modified":"2025-09-30T05:15:08","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T05:15:08","slug":"josh-shaw-somerset-sign-gloucestershire-seamer-on-three-year-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/169693\/","title":{"rendered":"Josh Shaw: Somerset sign Gloucestershire seamer on three-year deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Somerset have signed Gloucestershire seamer Josh Shaw on a three-year contract.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 29-year-old moves to Taunton after five years in Bristol, having joined from Yorkshire at the start of 2020 after two loan spells. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Shaw helped Gloucestershire win the 2024 T20 Blast &#8211; taking two wickets in the final and 19 wickets across that year&#8217;s competition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">In total he took more than 230 wickets in over 140 matches for the club. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I&#8217;m really excited for a new challenge, and the prospect of joining Somerset was something I couldn&#8217;t turn down,&#8221; Shaw told the Somerset website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I&#8217;ve always enjoyed the character of the team and playing at Taunton in front of their loyal supporters and I look forward to playing a part in bringing more silverware to the club in the coming years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Somerset director of cricket Andy Hurry added: &#8220;We have seen first-hand how impactful Josh can be. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;He has the ability to swing and seam the ball, and he is an excellent addition to our bowling unit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We are fully aware of Josh&#8217;s strong character traits and his willingness to be the best version of himself, which will add real value to the dressing room as well as on the pitch.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Somerset have signed Gloucestershire seamer Josh Shaw on a three-year contract.
