Grindhouse Releasing\u2018s new 4K restoration of Cannibal Holocaust will have its world premiere this Sunday, October 5, at Beyond Fest<\/a> at the Aero Theatre in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

The special edition presents the \u201cGreen Inferno\u201d documentary footage directly from the original 16mm camera negative in its native 1.37:1 aspect ratio for the first time.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a whole new and perhaps even more powerful experience watching the movie this way, with the alternating aspect ratios,\u201d said Grindhouse Releasing owner Bob Murawski. \u201cThis is essentially the same way we constructed Orson Welles\u2019 long-unfinished masterpiece The Other Side of the Wind. And, of course, we have also painstakingly preserved the original theatrical version of the movie as well for our upcoming ultra-deluxe UHD release.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 1980 Italian exploitation shocker is directed by Ruggero Deodato and written by Gianfranco Clerici (The New York Ripper).<\/p>\n

In the controversial film, \u201cDeep within the heart of the Amazon, a rescue mission uncovers a chilling discovery: reels of raw footage left behind by a vanished documentary crew. Their original quest was to investigate rumors of cannibalistic tribes\u2014but what they captured on film reveals something far more horrifying than legend.\u201d<\/p>\n
