Molly Ringwald<\/a> was joined by her daughter\u00a0Mathilda Gianopoulos at\u00a0Netflix<\/a>‘s Monster: The Ed Gein Story world premiere held in New York on Tuesday evening.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The pair both opted for a white satin moment as they posed together in snaps\u00a0at The Plaza Hotel.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Molly, 57, looked stylish in a white long-sleeved satin blouse and black leather midi skirt.<\/p>\n

The actress completed the look with a pair of pointed gold slip ons<\/a> as she joined her daughter who wowed in a plunging white satin dress.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mathilda, 21, accessorised with a pair of baby pink ballet shoes and smoky eyeshadow look.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Their appearance together comes after Molly has in the past slammed ‘ridiculous’ nepo-baby criticism <\/a>while addressing her daughter’s choice to pursue her own career as an actress.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Molly, who shares three children with her\u00a0husband Panio Gianopoulos, became a household name in the 1980s after starring in coming-of-age films, Pretty In Pink, The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles.<\/p>\n

And now her eldest daughter Mathilda has embarked on her own career in front of the camera.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Her mother has praised her for refusing to take her famous surname, opting instead for the less familiar\u00a0Gianopoulos.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She told the Sunday Times<\/a> magazine in 2024: ‘She and I are both emotional and headstrong. When she was learning to walk, if we helped her for a couple of steps she would stop and say, \u201cDo myself lone\u201d and go back and do it again.<\/p>\n

‘That\u2019s still her attitude today, including in her acting career. She took Gianopoulos, her father\u2019s name, instead of Ringwald. I said, \u201cAre you sure? Ringwald is so much easier to spell and it might open some doors.\u201d But she was adamant.’\u00a0<\/p>\n

Molly is also critical of the condemnation heaped on children who choose to follow in a famous parent’s footsteps – notably those within the acting, modelling or music industries.\u00a0<\/p>\n

She added: ‘The nepo baby thing is ridiculous. Of course if you have a parent in the industry, it\u2019s something that you\u2019ve heard about and might be genetically predisposed to.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘I\u2019ve talked to Mathilda about navigating the spotlight but everyone experiences it differently. Some people don\u2019t mind living completely out loud. I\u2019m not one of those people and I don\u2019t think she is either. We\u2019re basically a family of introverts who have had to learn to be more extrovert because of what we do.’<\/p>\n

Mathilda made her acting debut in Michael Showalter’s film, The Idea of You, which which hit Prime Video in May 2024.<\/p>\n

Molly has praised her eldest’s role and decision to follow in her footsteps. She told People last year:\u00a0‘It’s a hard job and I think she knows what she’s in for.’<\/p>\n

Mathilda also praised her mother for teaching her ‘everything’ and to ‘be prepared to wait and be nice.’<\/p>\n

Molly added that she always tells Mathilda to ‘remember people’s names.’<\/p>\n

Meanwhile the star also previously revealed that Mathilda was conceived during her time starring as Sally Bowles in the Broadway production of Cabaret.<\/p>\n

While reflecting on motherhood, the Pretty in Pink star, 56, told The Times that she believes her firstborn ‘was conceived in the dressing room at Studio 54’ back in 2003.<\/p>\n

‘It’s so Mathilda to be conceived in such an iconic place,’ she mused.<\/p>\n

Molly is also a parent to 16-year old twins Adele and Roman (pictured in April 2024)\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Golden Globe nominee went on to explain that she ‘always knew’ she ‘wanted to have children but it took’ her ‘awhile’ to start a family with her now-husband Panio Gianopoulos, who she met online in the early 2000s.<\/p>\n

‘I was 36 when she was born. At that age the biological clock is a real thing and it had kind of become deafening,’ Molly reflected. ‘All I could think about was: must have kids.’<\/p>\n

The mother-of-three, who also shares 16-year-old twins Adele and Roman, with her spouse, noted that ‘the hardest thing about motherhood was realizing that’ her ‘time was not’ her own.<\/p>\n
