Regardless of the fallacies, inconsistencies, even immaterialness to the true nature of bike racing, there is no doubt the impending culmination of the current three-year WorldTour promotion and relegation cycle will provide drama.<\/p>\n

2025 signals the end of the second three-year period where teams’ UCI points are totalled up and the top 18 are awarded WorldTour status for the next three years.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, UAE Team Emirates-XRG leads these rankings with 105,000 points and Visma-Lease a Bike is second, with 72,000.<\/p>\n

And at first glance, as we can see on FirstCycling’s useful live tracker<\/a>, the race for 18th doesn’t seem overly exciting. With only three weeks left in the WorldTour and ProTour seasons, Intermarch\u00e9-Wanty lead Uno-X Mobility by well over 1,000 points.<\/p>\n

However, amid ongoing rumours that Lotto and Intermarch\u00e9-Wanty are set to merge, that would see one of the 18 WorldTour spots left vacant.<\/p>\n
