Ricky Hatton’s son, Campbell, says the British boxing legend’s passing has left his family ‘heartbroken and ‘hit for six’.<\/p>\n

The Hall of Famer was\u00a0found dead at his home in Hyde, Greater Manchester, on September 14<\/a>. He was 46 years old.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police are not treating Hatton’s death as suspicious, while the circumstances surrounding it remain undisclosed at the time of writing.<\/p>\n

Hatton leaves behind a boxing legacy that included world title reigns at super lightweight and welterweight, as well as an army of adoring fans and a loving family.<\/p>\n

Campbell, who himself spent a stint in professional boxing, spoke about his grief for the first time in an emotional interview with ITV<\/a> released on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are absolutely heartbroken \u2013 it was so unexpected,” said Campbell.<\/p>\n

“We had so many plans coming up, so it has knocked us for six, but obviously, we are trying to be there for each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe outpouring of support from absolutely everyone has been amazing, so that’s helping us through a lot \u2013 but yes, absolutely heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old boxed 16 times (14-2) as a professional.<\/p>\n

However, back-to-back defeats to James Flint last year spelt the end of his career.<\/a><\/p>\n

Although Ricky’s brother Matthew was the one who led Campbell into battle, ‘The Hitman’ never missed any of his fights and shared a special relationship with his son.<\/p>\n

“He used to call me his little Mini-Me,” continued Campbell.<\/p>\n

“We were identical in so many ways, and I think it’s shown through how close we were and the banter we had with each other.<\/p>\n

“To so many, he was\u00a0Ricky Hatton<\/a>\u00a0the boxer, but to me, he was just my dad, and to the family, it was Richard. <\/p>\n

“We just can’t get our heads round it at the minute.”<\/p>\n

Ricky Hatton’s funeral plans<\/p>\n

Hatton will be laid to rest four days after what would have been his 47th birthday.<\/a><\/p>\n

The funeral service will take place on Friday, October 10, at Manchester Cathedral.<\/p>\n
