Group 2 winner Spacewalk is set to give Melbourne Cup winning syndicator Australian Bloodstock a presence in Perth, after he was purchased online last week.<\/p>\n
Australian Bloodstock purchased the former Godolphin galloper for $180,000 in Inglis\u2019 July online sale.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s set to make his way to Grant and Alana Williams\u2019 Karnup stable in the coming weeks, ahead of a tilt at The Pinnacles carnival later this year.<\/p>\n
Australian Bloodstock\u2019s Jamie Lovett said he was pleased to be able to find the right horse to send to Western Australia. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve been sourcing tried horses for a while for Western Australia,\u201d Lovett told TABradio.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a couple of good owners in Western Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe profiles like a horse where a few gear changes might help him.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s still got plenty of racing upside.\u201d <\/p>\n
Spacewalk scored the biggest win of his career in the Group 3 Rising Fast Stakes (1200m) during the 2023 Melbourne Cup carnival.<\/p>\n
He was also a winner of the Listed Bob Charley Stakes (1100m) in 2023 and has been placed at blacktype level on a further 11 occasions.<\/p>\n
His latest campaign saw him finish third in the Listed Ascot Handicap (1000m) and Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) at Eagle Farm and Gosford respectively. <\/p>\n
The five-year-old was beaten less than two lengths at his previous start in last month\u2019s Group 2 Moreton Cup (1200m) at Eagle Farm.<\/p>\n
Lovett said Spacewalk only needed to hold his form to be competitive in Perth.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s quite easy to draw a line that if they run to a mark, that will more than see them competitive over there,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he drops into those Group 2 or Group 3 races in in the West, he\u2019d be more than competitive if he were to hold the form that he\u2019s shown here on the East Coast.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe horse looks fantastic.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just want to give him a little freshen and tick him over.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lovett indicated he was hoping Australian Bloodstock\u2019s footprint would expand in the West and would be open to having runners with multiple trainers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
