One day, we\u2019ve long been promised<\/a>, Daisy Ridley will dig up Rey\u2019s lightsaber<\/a> and have new adventures<\/a> in the galaxy far, far away. But in the meantime, the Star Wars star is keeping busy by starring in indie films\u2014including We Bury the Dead<\/a>, a zombie tale that\u2019s just shared its first teaser trailer.<\/p>\n

Writer-director Zak Hilditch\u2019s film has an intriguing setup\u2014a military operation gone wrong, followed by dangerous misinformation\u2014backed by what looks like an emotional journey for Ridley\u2019s character. A deeply creepy emotional journey, that is. In a press release, Ridley praised the film\u2019s story:<\/p>\n

\u201cZak has created a unique, terrifying tale about the undead and how far the living will go to reunite with their loved ones. I was thrilled to be part of bringing this nightmare to life and I can\u2019t wait to share the movie with the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the official synopsis:<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a catastrophic military disaster, the dead don\u2019t just rise\u2014they hunt. The military insists they are harmless and slow-moving, offering hope to grieving families. But when Ava (Daisy Ridley) enters a quarantine zone searching for her missing husband, she uncovers the horrifying truth: the undead are growing more violent, more relentless, and more dangerous with every passing hour.\u201d<\/p>\n

We Bury the Dead co-stars Brenton Thwaits (Titans fans will recognize him as Dick Grayson\/Robin\/Nightwing) as well as Mark Coles Smith and Matt Whelan. It hits theaters January 2, 2026.<\/p>\n
