Ryder Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Patrick Cantlay has taken to social media to express his disappointment at &#8220;coming up short for the home fans&#8221; at the 2025 Ryder Cup.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/players\/patrick-cantlay\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"1df7698f-a25f-4c8a-b729-8304e53fcd47\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Patrick Cantlay\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cantlay<\/a>, 33, only managed to amass 1.5 points individually at Bethpage Black in New York.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The American was one of only three players on Keegan Bradley&#8217;s team to play in all five sessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The other two were Scottie Scheffler and Bryson DeChambeau.<\/p>\n<p>Scheffler performed dismally given his lofty position as a runaway World No.1 and he took just 1 point, which came in his singles match against Rory McIlroy (1up).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>DeChambeau also failed to fire for much of the week and he ended up with the same amount of points as Cantlay.<\/p>\n<p>Though the LIV Golf superstar did at least overturn a five-hole deficit on Matt Fitzpatrick in his singles to earn a tie to keep USA in the game.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Xander Schauffele and Cameron Young top scored for Team USA as both players took 3 points from four sessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tommy Fleetwood was the top overall points scorer with 4 points from five sessions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/ryder-cup\/ryder-cup-2025-top-points-scorers-europe-and-usa-bethpage\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"55c90a26-0703-4943-9776-28f68a71dc60\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Ryder Cup 2025: Top Points Scorers for Europe and USA at Bethpage\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">full list of points scorers from the 2025 Ryder Cup<\/a><\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/2025-09-28t171712z_367072938_up1el9s1c0n29_rtrmadp_3_golf-rydercup.JPG\"   type=\"image\/jpeg\" alt=\"Cantlay scored just 1.5 points for USA\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.51\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Cantlay scored just 1.5 points for USA<\/p>\n<p>Cantlay was the only American player to lose his singles match on Sunday, falling 2&amp;1 to Ludvig Aberg.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It was a spirited final-day charge from Team USA, who started the Sunday singles matches seven points down at 11.5-4.5.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They rallied to get within three points at one stage when the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/ryder-cup\" data-entity-type=\"taxonomy_term\" data-entity-uuid=\"1ce70f90-2d84-48b8-8378-553b500ffce6\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Ryder Cup\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ryder Cup<\/a> was still alive.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But Shane Lowry put a dagger to the hearts of the hosts with making three birdies on the final four holes to earn a crucial tie against Russell Henley and help Europe reach their required total of 14 points.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT<\/p>\n<p>As the remaining results played out, Europe then ran out 15-13 victors to become the first away side to win the contest since Medinah in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The latest biennial dust-up between United States and Europe was marred by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.golfmagic.com\/tour\/ryder-cup\/ryder-cup-blunder-involving-rory-mcilroy-should-never-have-happened\" data-entity-type=\"node\" data-entity-uuid=\"f0439719-65eb-4bdd-89cd-dbc84c43663b\" data-entity-substitution=\"canonical\" title=\"Rory McIlroy caught up in shocking Ryder Cup blunder by PGA of America\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shocking verbal abuse and insults<\/a> to the European players, largely all aimed at Rory McIlroy and his wife Erica.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But despite all of that, Cantlay still expressed his disappointment at not being able to send the American fans home with a win.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Playing in the Ryder Cup and representing the US is the greatest honor in our game,&#8221;
