A police aeroplane was seen flying over the M62 <\/a>for more than an hour on Wednesday night (October 1), drawing attention with its low altitude and “massive” searchlights. The aircraft, which appeared to make dozens of loops over the motorway near Clock Face Road in St Helens<\/a>, was tracked on Flightradar24<\/a> and identified as belonging to the National Police Air Service (NPAS).<\/p>\n It was first spotted in the area around 7pm before continuing its flight path towards Chester, where it continued to circle above the M56 near Ellesmere Port<\/a>. The plane is believed to have departed from Nottingham East Midlands Airport earlier that evening.<\/p>\n A resident, who saw the aeroplane’s activity, said the aircraft had done “at least 50 loops” over the motorway. He told the ECHO: “It was over the M62 at Clock Face for at least an hour.<\/p>\n “It must have done at least 50 loops. It was really loud because it was flying very low, and it had massive searchlights on.
