The future of one potential Superman<\/a> spin-off show is looking pretty terrific.<\/p>\n

Superman was released in United States theaters earlier this month. Written and directed by James Gunn<\/a>, the DC Studios<\/a> and Warner Bros. Pictures<\/a> movie stars David Corenswet as the titular superhero, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.<\/p>\n

According to a recent article published by Wall Street Journal<\/a>, Gunn is now considering making two DCU shows<\/a> that would serve as spin-offs to Superman: One would be focused on Edi Gathegi<\/a>\u2019s Mister Terrific<\/a> character, and the other on Jimmy Olsen\u2019s Skyler Gisondo.<\/p>\n

What is the new update on the Mister Terrific Superman spin-off show?<\/p>\n

As noticed on X by DC Films News<\/a>, DC has filed a new trademark for Mr. Terrific<\/a> and Mister Miracle that extends across multiple categories, including motion pictures.<\/p>\n

DC Comics has filed trademark applications for \u2018MR. TERRIFIC\u2019 and \u2018MISTER MIRACLE\u2019 across multiple categories:

\u2022 Comic Books
\u2022 Toys

The Mister Miracle part of the news isn\u2019t terribly surprising, given that it\u2019s already known that Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are developing an animated show that is being made by Tom King. The Mr. Terrific aspect, however, is exciting in that it means the show is one step closer to becoming a reality.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s important to note that a trademark filing doesn\u2019t necessarily mean the project is actually happening \u2014 this could just be a preliminary move on DC\u2019s part so they don\u2019t run into trademark issues further down the road should it end up getting greenlit. Gunn has also not confirmed that a DCU Mr. Terrific show with Gathegi is in the works at this time.<\/p>\n

Having said that, Gathegi told Variety<\/a> that he has a \u201cmulti-project deal\u201d with DC, though the specific details are \u201cunknown\u201d to him at this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat James is driving home is the idea that they\u2019re never going to rush into production with scripts that aren\u2019t ready, so even whatever they do have planned for my characters is irrelevant until the draft comes in and it\u2019s shootable,\u201d he commented. \u201cSo I don\u2019t count my chickens before they hatch. I want to be involved in this universe in a major way, and whether or not that comes to fruition is just a matter of time and faith and other people\u2019s hard work.\u201d<\/p>\n
