Renault UK has emailed driver to inform them of “a cyber-attack on one of our third-party providers, leading to some Renault UK customers\u2019 personal data being taken from one of their systems”.<\/p>\n
The message added: “We do not hold any financial details for you, so no bank details formed part of the cyber-attack.” In the email, they said: “The third-party has confirmed that this was an isolated incident, which has now been contained and removed. We are working closely with them to ensure that all appropriate actions are being taken. We have notified all relevant authorities. It is important to note that the data was taken from a third-party provider and that none of our own systems have been compromised.”<\/p>\n
A spokesperson from Renault UK told The Express: \u201cOne of Renault Group UK\u2019s third-party data processing providers has notified us that that they have been the subject of a cyber-attack, and that some customers’ personal data has been taken from one of their systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThis includes some or all of: customer names, addresses, dates of birth, gender, phone number, vehicle identification numbers and vehicle registration details. No financial or password data has been compromised.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe third-party provider has confirmed this is an isolated incident which has been contained, and we are working with it to ensure that all appropriate actions are being taken. We have notified all relevant authorities.\u00a0 No Renault Group UK systems have been compromised.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are in the process of contacting all affected customers, advising them of the cyber-attack and reminding them to be cautious of any unsolicited requests for personal information.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The car giant has urged the customer to “be cautious”.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The email continued: “Be cautious of any unsolicited requests for personal information, especially requests made by email or phone.<\/p>\n
“You should never share your passwords online or on the phone \u2013 Renault UK will never ask you for this information.<\/p>\n
