Its advice comes as two variants of the infection are currently the most prevalent in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"mirror\">Figures from the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rcgp.org.uk\/getmedia\/b616af10-1640-474a-b457-b0dbd2a1ed1f\/WeeklyReport-wk38-2025-Wednesday.pdf\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Royal College of GPs<\/a> show that rates of Covid are now increasing across the UK. Hospital admissions linked to Covid are also going up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"mirror\">In an update from the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/ukhsa.blog.gov.uk\/2025\/09\/25\/should-we-be-worried-about-the-current-covid-19-variants\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">UKHSA<\/a>, it explained that <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/health\/covid-nimbus-stratus-variants-coronavirus-35994829\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">most common variants in the UK currently are the XFG and NB.1.8.1<\/a> &#8211; also known as Stratus and Nimbus. The UKHSA said: \u201cOur genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 lineages last month found that 35 per cent were classified as XFG.3, 28 per cent were classified as XFG, 11 per cent were classified as NB.1.8.1, seven per cent were classified as XFG.5 and seven per cent were classified as XFG.3.4.1.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"mirror\">At the moment it is <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/health\/covid-stratus-symptoms-vaccine-coronavirus-35981756\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">not thought that these variants lead to more severe illness than other variants<\/a> in circulation. The UKHSA continued: \u201cIt\u2019s normal for viruses to mutate and change, and as more data becomes available on these variants we\u2019ll have a better understanding of how they interact with our immune systems and how to optimise our protection, as well as actions we can take to keep the most vulnerable safe and live our lives as normally as possible. \u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/0_GettyImages-2232120731.jpg\" alt=\"Woman ill\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The UKHSA has issued advice on how to prevent the spread of Covid(Image: Getty)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"mirror\">It stated that the \u201cmost important thing\u201d is for those eligible to get their vaccination when it is due. On top of this, it provided advice for anyone who is unwell or experiencing Covid symptoms.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/0_GettyImages-1773970411.jpg\" alt=\"Covid virus\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Two variants of Covid are currently prevalent in the UK(Image: Getty)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"mirror\">\u201cIf you have symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as COVID-19, and you have a high temperature or do not feel well enough to go to work or carry out normal activities, you should avoid contact with vulnerable people and stay at home if possible,\u201d the UKHSA said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"mirror\">However, if you are unable to stay home it issued guidance on a 20-second rule that could help minimise the risk of spreading the virus.
