It helped the visitors build the biggest two-day lead in Ryder Cup history at Bethpage Black in New York (11-and-a-half, 4-and-a-half). <\/p>\n
However, the match was overshadowed as an argument erupted between both teams on the 15th green. <\/p>\n
DeChambeau’s caddie Gregory Bodine moved into Justin Rose<\/a>‘s eyeline as the Brit lined up a putt on the 15th hole, and Rose told him to move out of the way.<\/p>\n The Europe star then nailed his putt and celebrated rather calmly before DeChambeau converted to extend the match.<\/p>\n His celebration was rather different, as he gave it the big ‘un and had words with Rose and Fleetwood<\/a>.<\/p>\n The conversation continued on the walk to the 16th tee, with Scottie Scheffler<\/a>‘s caddie Ted Scott also getting involved.<\/p>\n He cut an angry and aggressive figure with Europe vice-captain Francesco Molinari and Fleetwood intervened to calm things down.<\/p>\n On the walk to the 16th tee, DeChambeau could be seen in a heated exchange with Fleetwood’s caddie, Ian Finnis.<\/p>\n Rose also had some words with Scheffler, though, that all seemed much more relaxed.<\/p>\n The world No.1 was the only player in the group who had no interest in any of it. <\/p>\n And the match did not last much longer than that as Rose and Fleetwood got the job done on the 16th green. <\/p>\n There were handshakes between all players and caddies, although Rose had to track DeChambeau down. <\/p>\n What has been said about the incident?<\/p>\n DeChambeau and Scheffler declined media requests after the match, but Rose gave his version of events. <\/p>\n He said: “It was a shame it got to that point as it was a great match.<\/p>\n “I was waiting to putt and the boys were working on their read and their calculations. I waited a few seconds and then they came up again.<\/p>\n “I said ‘it was my putt’ but maybe I could have said it more politely. By no means was there any disrespect meant. It should be put to bed. There was no intent whatsoever. I admire Scottie more than anyone else on tour.
