Two men remain seriously injured in hospital on Saturday after the Manchester synagogue terror attack, police said in an update on Saturday morning (October 40). One was working as a security guard, the other as security for the Community Safety Trust (CST), GMP said.<\/p>\n
Greater Manchester Police<\/a> moved to confirm that 65 year-old Melvin Cravitz – one of two people killed in the atrocity on Yom Kippur on Thursday – was not a security guard, as originally said by the force.<\/p>\n Mr Cravitz, said police, was a worshipper at Heaton Park<\/a> Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall at the time.<\/p>\n Never miss a story with the MEN’s daily Catch Up newsletter – get it in your inbox by signing up here<\/a><\/p>\n Adrian Daulby, 53, also a worshipper, is believed to have been shot dead by armed police while attempting to help prevent suspect Jihad Al-Shamie from entering the synagogue during the car and knife attack.<\/p>\n Armed police accidentally shot Mr Daulby and another member of the public who survived during the attack, named as Yoni Finlay<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Saturday, the force said three men remain in hospital with serious injuries, including two security staff with car-impact injuries and stab wounds respectively.<\/p>\n “All three of those who suffered serious injuries – including the two security men – remain in hospital with serious injuries,” said GMP.<\/p>\n Police were today continuing to question six people arrested as part of investigations into the background of terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie, who it emerged was on bail for an alleged rape at the time of the fatal attack.<\/p>\n He was shot dead by police at the scene. Counter-terror policing said he was seen ‘acting suspiciously’ outside the synagogue, but walked away after being confronted by security guards.<\/p>\n He is said to have returned in a car before carrying out the attack.<\/p>\n Worshippers inside the synagogue stopped him from getting inside, and he was fatally shot by police within minutes. The 35-year-old was heard to shout ‘this is what they get for killing our children; as he tried to get inside.<\/p>\n On Friday night, police raided a house in Central Avenue, Bolton<\/a>, while six people have been detained on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts as part of the investigation, with counter-terrorism police saying they will seek warrants to give them extra time to continue questioning them.<\/p>\n And Sir Keir Starmer has urged people planning to protest in Manchester and London this weekend to \u201crespect the grief of British Jews\u201d as he said demonstrations could cause further pain to mourners.<\/p>\n The Prime Minister said: \u201cThis is a moment of mourning.
