Officials say the initiative will shift the country\u2019s approach from reacting to disasters after they occur to taking proactive steps in advance.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the launch of the \u201cSpace-based Disaster Management \u2014 Shifting Focus from Reactive to Proactive Approaches\u201d training session in Islamabad, SUPARCO\u2019s Member for Technology, Zafar Iqbal, explained how satellite tools and space applications can transform disaster response.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese technologies enhance early warning systems and help national authorities develop effective disaster preparedness policies,\u201d Iqbal said. \u201cThe focus is on both mitigation and adaptation as joint priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He highlighted that true resilience comes from readiness before a crisis. \u201cThe challenge is not just responding after disasters happen, but ensuring preparedness and resilience before they strike,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>According to Iqbal, satellite imagery, remote sensing, and geospatial mapping will allow experts to identify vulnerable areas, monitor potential risks, and provide decision-makers with accurate, real-time data.
