For undisputed claims, that’s three (140, 147, 168). He was also top dog at 135 without fully unifying, and had plenty of an argument compared to the rest at 154 even though he only had a fight there.

What does Crawford do now? He could retire. No shame in it. Has made his money, would be getting out on the biggest win of his career, and I still think Canelo was really not just the biggest fight for him to test this weight out in the ring, but also the best style matchup of the top guys. I think Canelo is a better all-around fighter than Iglesias or Mbilli or Martinez or Pacheco, but that those guys with their size and less miles on the odometer would be riskier matchups for Crawford just in a purely boxing sense, not even counting that they aren’t big names. Canelo’s not some aggressor, he’s a boxer, and he’s been beaten by the three best boxers (arguably) that he’s faced in Mayweather, Bivol, and now Crawford. Add in GGG, who was a damn good boxer himself along with being a force of nature, and yeah, Canelo has struggled against true top of the line opposition.

But who doesn’t, to be fair? That’s the risk taken to face fellow elites. Oscar De La Hoya can do his silly Reacts To videos all he wants, but he knows that very well from his own career. I think De La Hoya is the better historical fighter, in part because some of his elite level losses were very debatable, but his middleweight robbery was Felix Sturm and not Gennadiy Golovkin, too, so you can have a whole discussion about that. (In fact, maybe we should! For fun. I’ll do it in The Feed!)

Anyway, Crawford could hang it up. He could rematch Canelo if Turki Alalshikh thinks it’s worth the money. There’s been mention of David Benavidez, but Crawford seems to have reasonable concerns about that guy’s size, and it’s also possible Benavidez can’t make 168 safely anymore, though it’d be hard to turn down a money offer if Crawford were willing to do it. There are good and intriguing fights out there — Janibek Alimkhanuly at or coming up from 160, back down at 154 with Vergil Ortiz or Murtazaliev or Fundora — but Crawford is very open that he’s a money fighter now, and it’s about the bag.

Please keep this one in mind and consider the greater boxing landscape of the last few years, just so you’re not gasping if it does come up: Do not be shocked if Gennadiy Golovkin gets an offer to come back and fight Crawford at 168. But I think the frontrunner fight is a Canelo rematch, and retirement might be the most likely thing otherwise.

Another, quicker note: As officials channels go, Jaime Munguia has been cleared of wrongdoing in his doping test failure after his win over Bruno Surace in May. Munguia is thus back into the rankings, but only at No. 10, which is not a statement about the case — I know as much in specifics as everyone’s press releases allow me to know, same as pretty much everyone — but simply that that’s where I think Munguia fits, and I think it would be just as easy to have him right outside the top 10 at the moment. I mean, he did get stopped by Bruno Surace last December, and there is real talent in this division even if most of it lacks his name value. Jermall Charlo falls out along with Sergiy Derevyanchenko, and I dropped Charlo in a reassessment; he was probably too high before this, and also we might not see him fight again for two years given his schedule and PBC’s problems.

Middleweight (Limit: 160)

    Last
Rank
Name
Record

    1
1
Janibek Alimkhanuly
17-0-0 (12)

    2
2
Carlos Adames
24-1-1 (18)

    4
3
Chris Eubank Jr
35-3-0 (25)

    5
4
Aaron McKenna
20-0-0 (10)

    6
5
Austin Williams
19-1-0 (13)

    7
6
Etinosa Oliha
22-0-0 (10)

    8
7
Marquis Taylor
18-1-2 (3)

    9
8
Anauel Ngamissengue
14-1-0 (9)

    10
9
Yoenli Hernandez
8-0-0 (7)

    NR
10
Vadim Turkov
16-0-0 (7)

Titles: WBC – Carlos Adames, WBA – Erislandy Lara, IBF – Janibek Alimkhanuly, WBO – Janibek AlimkhanulyUpcoming Notable Fights: Aston Brown vs Paul Kean, 10/4 … Riku Kunimoto vs Nuri Ye, 10/5 … (8) Anauel Ngamissengue vs Jose Rivas, 10/10 … Kieron Conway vs George Liddard, 10/17 … Derek Pomerlau vs Carlos Sinisterra, 10/19 … (3) Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn, 11/15

Notes: Erislandy Lara is inactive so he’s out, WBA title or not. The same thing happened in 2021 on a “Ring City USA” card not many people watched, and Tom Loeffler went to work rebuilding Bohachuk’s UFC Fight Pass credibility over a few years before he then beat Brian Mendoza and lost a tight war with Vergil Ortiz Jr, but man, it happens.

Styles make fights. And sometimes someone just has your number. Adams is not a contender at 154. He just has Bohachuk’s number. He has the guy’s style and approach figured out and he’s built to beat him. He was trailing when he stopped Bohachuk in 2021, no miracle, it was something Adams had built toward despite being behind, and this time he just kind of outclassed him over 10. He won the fifth series of “The Contender” back in 2018, lost to Jermall Charlo, and kinda disappeared for a bit. Then he never really got any chance to capitalize on beating Bohachuk the first time — he didn’t even fight again until 2024, when he became a regular for Overtime Boxing cards, going 2-1.

That loss came last December to Greece’s Andreas Katzourakis, who takes the No. 10 slot that Bohachuk’s exit leaves open. Adams has talent, and hopefully this time he gets the chance to really strike while the iron’s hot. I’d have no real problem seeing him get a shot at Zayas and the WBO belt, for instance, and that might make sense to the Zayas and Top Rank people, too.

I think we all suspect Katzourakis is just treading water here for a month, too. Jose Salas and Landile Ngxeke are the top-two rated they have otherwise, at Nos. 3 and 5, but don’t be surprised if Japan’s Riku Masuda or the UK’s Andrew Cain are involved should their ratings receive a fresh new think.

Super Flyweight (Limit: 115)

    Last
Rank
Name
Record

    1
1
Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez
22-0-0 (15)

    2
2
Fernando Martinez
18-0-0 (9)

    3
3
Kazuto Ioka
31-4-1 (16)

    4
4
Juan Francisco Estrada
45-4-0 (28)

    5
5
David Jimenez
17-1-0 (11)

    6
6
Suzumi Takayama
9-0-0 (8)

    7
7
Phumelela Cafu
11-1-3 (8)

    8
8
Ricardo Malajika
15-2-0 (11)

    NR
9
Chocolatito Gonzalez
53-4-0 (42)

    9
10
Carlos Cuadras
44-5-1 (28)

Titles: WBC – Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez, WBA – Fernando Martinez, IBF – Willibaldo Garcia, WBO – Jesse “Bam” RodriguezUpcoming Notable Fights: Kenta Nakagawa vs Wei Song, 10/14 … (1) Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez vs (2) Fernando Martinez, 11/22 … Willibaldo Garcia vs Kenshiro Teraji, 12/27

Notes: Chocolatito Gonzalez is active again, at least tentatively, and enters at No. 9, replacing vaunted IBF world’s champion Willibaldo Garcia, who has a chance to prove a case beyond a paper belt when he faces the moving-up Kenshiro Teraji in late December.

    Last
Rank
Name
Record

    1
1
Ricardo Sandoval
27-2-0 (18)

    3
2
Masamichi Yabuki
18-4-0 (17)

    4
3
Anthony Olascuaga
10-1-0 (7)

    5
4
Seigo Yuri Akui
21-3-1 (11)

    6
5
Felix Alvarado
42-4-0 (35)

    7
6
Angel Ayala
18-1-0 (8)

    8
7
Galal Yafai
9-1-0 (7)

    9
8
Tobias Reyes
17-1-1 (16)

    10
9
Yankiel Rivera
7-0-1 (3)

    NR
10
Hasanboy Dusmatov
7-0-0 (5)

Titles: WBC – Ricardo Sandoval, WBA – Ricardo Sandoval, IBF – Masamichi Yabuki, WBO – Anthony OlascuagaUpcoming Notable Fights: (8) Tobias Reyes vs TBA, 10/18 … Hasanboy Dusmatov vs Rene Calixto, 10/25 … Albert Francisco vs Ramel Macado Jr, 10/29 … Yuberjen Martinez vs Juan Aguero, 10/29 … Roderick Bautista vs Adrian Dulayba, 10/29 … (2) Masamichi Yabuki vs (5) Felix Alvarado, 11/22

Notes: Kenshiro Teraji is out, as he’s officially moving up to 115. Hasanboy Dusmatov, who will fight an eliminator with Rene Calixto later this month, is in. It’s been a bit unclear what division the Uzbek amateur superstar would settle at as a pro, but now we know. He’s incredibly talented and if he’s serious about his pro career (and the eliminator suggests he’s getting there), this is a guy who could take over a division.

Light Flyweight (Limit: 108)

    Last
Rank
Name
Record

    1
1
Carlos Canizales
28-3-1 (20)

    2
2
Kyosuke Takami
10-0-0 (8)

    3
3
Rene Santiago
14-4-0 (9)

    4
4
Shokichi Iwata
14-2-0 (11)

    5
5
Regie Suganob
16-1-0 (6)

    6
6
Felix Alvarado
42-4-0 (35)

    7
7
Erick Badillo
18-0-0 (8)

    8
8
Thanongsak Simsri
39-1-0 (34)

    9
9
Sivenathi Nontshinga
13-2-0 (10)

    10
10
Cristian Araneta
25-3-0 (20)

Titles: WBC – Carlos Canizales, WBA – Kyosuke Takami, IBF – Thanongsak Simsri, WBO – Rene SantiagoUpcoming Notable Fights: Shokichi Iwata vs Edwin Cano, 10/4 … Nathaniel Dorona vs Jemuel Aranas, 10/13 … Arvin Magramo vs Berland Robles, 10/29

Minimumweight (Limit: 105)

    Last
Rank
Name
Record

    1
1
Oscar Collazo
12-0-0 (9)

    2
2
Melvin Jerusalem
24-3-0 (12)

    3
3
Pedro Taduran
18-4-1 (13)

    4
4
Thammanoon Niyomtrong
28-1-0 (11)

    5
5
DianXing Zhu
15-1-0 (13)

    6
6
Joey Canoy
24-5-2 (15)

    8
7
Ryusei Matsumoto
6-0-0 (4)

    9
8
Takeshi Ishii
10-1-0 (8)

    10
9
Siyakholwa Kuse
9-2-1 (4)

    NR
10
Vic Saludar
26-6-0 (16))

Titles: WBC – Melvin Jerusalem, WBA – Oscar Collazo, IBF – Pedro Taduran, WBO – Oscar CollazoUpcoming Notable Fights: Takero Kitano vs Joseph Sumabong, 10/21 … Goki Kobayashi vs Katsuki Mori, 10/21 … (3) Pedro Taduran vs Christian Balunan, 10/26 … (2) Melvin Jerusalem vs (9) Siyakholwa Kuse, 10/29

Heavyweight (Limit: None) Last Rank Name Record 1 1 Oleksandr Usyk 24-0-0 (15) 2 2 Agit Kabayel 26-0-0…

[41
2560,6838,101,56,54,55
0":"post-179874","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-boxing","8":"tag-boxing","9":"tag-boxing-rankings","10":"tag-sports","11":"tag-uk","12":"tag-united-kingdom","13":"tag-unitedkingdom
["GET
