Roach, 30, will be leaving his WBA super featherweight title behind for the second consecutive fight in moving up two weight classes to challenge Cruz for his interim WBC 140-lb strap.<\/p>\n<p>The Dog Catcher\u2019s Choice<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m going to go with the dog catcher\u2019s special right here. That would be a difficult fight for Roach going up against either of those fighters, as they both can punch.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, in Matias\u2019 case, he never stops attacking, and he wouldn\u2019t give Roach a moment of rest the way his last opponent, Gervonta Davis, did in their 12-round majority draw on March 1, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Bite Behind the Bark<\/p>\n<p>The former WBA light welterweight champion \u2018Pitbull\u2019 Cruz, 27, recently won the vacant WBC interim 140-lb title on July 19, 2025, defeating Omar Salcido by a 10-round unanimous decision.
