A builder who scooped \u00a31million on a scratch card came close to death after \u2018three months of partying\u2019.<\/p>\n
Adam Lopez\u2019s bank balance went from \u00a312.40 to \u00a31,000,012.40<\/a> following the impressive National Lottery<\/a> win in July.<\/p>\n The 39-year-old from Norwich<\/a> quit his job while he worked out what he was going to do with the prize money and embarked on a hedonistic few months.<\/p>\n However, on September 10 he suffered a bilateral pulmonary embolism and was rushed to hospital. <\/p>\n \u2018I knew what I was doing was going to come to an end eventually, and it nearly came to an end in the worst possible way. It was a massive, massive wake-up call,\u2019 he told the BBC.<\/a><\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n Adam said his life had been an \u2018absolute rollercoaster\u2019 following the win, with him \u2018partying for the last three months\u2019 and \u2018burning the candle at both ends\u2019.<\/p>\n He said the money had allowed him to live a bit of life he\u2019d never been able to but admitted he had gone about it the wrong way.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018It became apparent about three weeks ago\u2026 with a blood clot in my leg which spread to my lungs,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n He added: \u2018I couldn\u2019t walk, I couldn\u2019t breathe.
