\t\t\t \"David<\/a>David Hayes was satisfied with Ka Ying Rising\u2019s barrier trial. <\/p>\n

\n \u201cIt was a good, solid trial but he did need it,\u201d Hayes said. \u201cHe blew a few cobwebs out and he\u2019ll really come on a lot for that and he\u2019ll have a nice gallop on Monday (13 October) and he\u2019ll be right the big one,\u201d Hayes said.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cHe\u2019s about 20 pounds above his racing weight (about 1,150lb) and I\u2019ll expect it (his weight) to come down a bit in the next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n Purton echoed Hayes\u2019 thoughts: \u201cPass mark, needs to improve. He hasn\u2019t had a run for about a month and he hasn\u2019t done too much serious work in that amount of time, so it was the first time he\u2019s done anything competitive in a while.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cThe track was a little bit soft for him. He\u2019s not totally at home on that ground. But I thought he trialled well enough. I think he\u2019ll come on a bit from that. Obviously, it\u2019s going to be a competitive race. The horses in Australia are peaking at the right time, so hopefully we can draw a good gate, get a dry track and I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll improve a bit off that.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cHe had a big blow after the trial and he\u2019ll have another 200 metres to run in The Everest, he\u2019s got 10 days to do a bit more work and improve \u2013 hopefully he can.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n The winner of his past 13 starts, Ka Ying Rising has not started since triumphing in the Class 1 HKSAR Chief Executive\u2019s Cup Handicap (1200m) at Sha Tin on 7 September.<\/p>\n

\n Hayes arranged for Ka Ying Rising to have a \u201cfull dress rehearsal\u201d at Royal Randwick with the five-year-old spending time in the raceday tie-up stalls and the Theatre of the Horse, where he completed several laps and appeared slightly agitated.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cHopefully he\u2019ll improve from the experience,\u201d Hayes said of Hong Kong\u2019s reigning Horse of the Year.<\/p>\n

\n \u201cHe\u2019s had a look at Randwick now. He hasn\u2019t been away Sha Tin for a long time \u2013 that\u2019s his only track \u2013 so to have a look around here was very, very good for him.\u201d<\/p>\n
