Moses Itauma<\/a> is readying to return on December 13, headlining a Queensberry Promotions show at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.
The Ring’s Prospect of The Year in 2024<\/a>, Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) will make his first appearance since scoring a sensational first-round knockout win against highly-respected former interim titleholder Dillian Whyte on August 16<\/a>.
The eye-opening performance left many believing the 20-year-old, who has just 26 professional rounds under his belt, could give undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk<\/a> a run for his money.<\/p>\n

“Is it my fault that I’ve spent only an hour in the ring? One of the things me and my team have stressed is getting rounds,” Itauma told Boxing King Media. <\/p>\n

“But, the reason why we would fight Usyk is there’s a win-win situation. If I go in there and win, I’m the heavyweight champion of the world. If God forbid I lose, I’ve just lost to Usyk – the champion of the world – and I’m 20 years old. So, it’s a win-win situation.” <\/p>\n

Itauma has only fought past the fifth round twice, while all of his other fights have been first or second-round stoppages. He certainly needs more high-level experience to test himself against the king of the hill and a generational great in Usyk.<\/p>\n

His promoter Frank Warren has insisted he wants to tread lightly and not throw Itauma into the thick of the fire. The 73-year-old is naturally keeping his cards close to his chest as far as options, though has alluded to welcoming a future matchup against Joseph Parker<\/a>.
Parker returns against Itauma’s powerful-punching gymmate Fabio Wardley<\/a> (19-0-1, 18 KOs) on October 25, headlining a Queensberry show at London’s O2 Arena and streamed worldwide on DAZN<\/a>.
As for the encounter Itauma is actually preparing for, Michael Hunter and David Adeleye are among a long shortlist<\/a> for the date, but an actual opponent has not yet been announced.<\/p>\n

Itauma is The Ring’s No. 9-ranked heavyweight, while the four sanctioning bodies have the southpaw ranked much higher. He’s listed at No. 1 by the WBA and WBO, while the WBC has the Brit listed at No. 4, and IBF a rung below at No. 5. <\/p>\n
