Tron: Ares<\/a> reviews are beginning to come in, with most reacting poorly to the latest Disney movie starring Jared Leto. <\/p>\n

What are the Tron: Ares reviews saying? <\/p>\n

Over on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, Tron: Ares sits at a 57% overall, with 58 reviews in so far. Despite the negative reaction to the film, Ares\u2019 score still does sit slightly higher than its predecessor, 2010\u2019s Tron: Legacy (51%), for now. Both films score lower than 1982\u2019s Tron, which has a 61% score on Rotten Tomatoes.<\/p>\n

TheWrap\u2019s William Bibbiani<\/a> didn\u2019t hold back, saying that the film had a \u201cgreat frickin\u2019 soundtrack,\u201d but that the movie \u201ccompletely sucks\u201d otherwise. The Hollywood Reporter\u2019s David Rooney<\/a> was slightly nicer, saying \u201cit\u2019s no sci-fi insta-classic, but there are worse things to be than a surprisingly entertaining post-summer popcorn bucket.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rolling Stone\u2019s David Fear<\/a> said that the Tron series was in a tough position, needing to either reboot itself or call it quits. With Ares, Fear says, Disney \u201cchose the systems upgrade. It\u2019s Game Over regardless.\u201d USA Today\u2019s Brian Truitt<\/a> was equally negative, praising the soundtrack and Jeff Bridges, but noting \u201ctraveling to that nifty high-tech landscape in this third \u2018Tron\u2019 outing has become a chore.\u201d<\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t all negative, though. Consequence\u2019s Liz Shannon Miller<\/a> praises the film for being a \u201cbig spectacle,\u201d while Indiewire\u2019s David Ehrlich<\/a> calls it a movie that is \u201crelevant, palatable, and undemanding enough\u201d to turn Tron into a new franchise. ComingSoon\u2019s Jonathan Sim<\/a> also praised the movie, calling it a \u201cstellar cinematic experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alongside Jared Leto, Tron: Ares also features a star-studded cast that includes Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, Gillian Anderson, Jeff Bridges, and Sarah Desjardins.<\/p>\n

Tron: Ares will be the third official feature film in\u00a0Disney<\/a>\u2019s Tron franchise following 1982\u2019s Tron and 2010\u2019s Tron: Legacy. The film is directed by Joachim R\u00f8nning, who previously made 2019\u2019s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and 2024\u2019s Young Woman and the Sea. He also co-directed 2017\u2019s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales with Espen Sandberg.
