As our American readers begin to wake, here’s our first USA deal of the day, and it’s another item that’s likely useful in winter… the K\u00e4rcher OC 3 Plus Mobile Outdoor Cleaner.<\/p>\n

For me, it’s perfect for taking with me when I take the mountain bike to the woods with the dogs; letting me clean everything off before we all get back in the car (and saving me a job when I get home!)<\/p>\n For Will, whose home lacks an outdoor water supply, it lets him clean bikes outdoors with more power than a bucket and sponge<\/p>\n In his Karcher OC3 review<\/a>, he concluded he can no longer live without it… pretty glowing a verdict if you ask me!<\/p>\n 2025-10-08T10:12:32.237Z<\/p>\n \n (Image credit: Will Jones)<\/p>\n Up next, it’s bike light time:<\/p>\n We’ve already hunted down a handful of Magicshine Prime Day deals<\/a><\/p>\n And this morning we’ve unearthed a host of deals on Cateye’s range<\/a>.<\/p>\n There’s front and rear lights on offer, with everything from budget-friendly city lights, to high-powered nighttime adventurers.<\/p>\n As a guide to the brightness you need:<\/p>\n For front lights, if you want to see where you’re going at speeds of 18-25mph (essentially, most descents) on an unlit road, you’ll need around 1000 lumens.<\/p>\n Less than this, you’ll be okay at slower speeds (proportionate to the brightness, of course).<\/p>\n If you’re riding in the city, where streetlights handle a lot of the illumination, your focus will be on being visible to other road users, and for this, we’d recommend at least 250 lumens up front.<\/p>\n If riding off-road, we’d suggest 1000 lumens at slower speeds, and more if you’ll be descending anything technical at speed.<\/p>\n For rear lights, we’d recommend at least 150 lumens in a flashing pattern.<\/p>\n We’d also recommend doubling up with a backup front and rear light, just to keep you safe in the case of your main light switching itself off. It’s not perfect, but the navigation is superb and the user interface is far more intuitive than the Garmin system. While merino wool has a great warmth to weight ratio, it is surpassed by Alpaca thanks to the hollow nature of the wool fibres.<\/p>\n What that means in practice is you can get a really warm sock without adding too much additional bulk, which can result in compression of the foot and reduction of circulation, which ultimately makes things worse.<\/p>\n I have two sets of Hollow crew socks and they are among my most treasured winter riding accessories, and they’ve come out with me on rides deep into sub-zero territory. What’s more, the wool is noticeably softer than merino, so no wool-itch. No more slipping on slightly damp footwear the day after a soaking ride, no more wet shoe smell permeating your house. I prefer to go for a decent set of waterproof socks instead, and just dry my shoes out when I get home (more on this shortly…).<\/p>\n If you’re of a gravelly persuasion even in the winter then Endura’s venerable Humvee waterproof socks are 20% off in the UK<\/a>.
