Tiger Woods appears to be closing in on his much-anticipated return to golf.<\/p>\n

Woods<\/a> suffered a huge injury blow in March when he was forced to undergo surgery for a ruptured left Achilles.<\/p>\n

Tiger Woods could be set to play alongside Scottie Scheffler this year after thrilling fans with golf return<\/p>\n

It was the latest in a succession of health issues that has plagued the 15-time major winner in recent years.<\/p>\n

The injury initially sparked concerns that Woods may never return to competitive golf, however it appears that his latest comeback is very much on the cards.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s because the schedule for TGL\u2019s second season was released on Monday, with Woods set to compete.<\/p>\n

What is TGL?<\/p>\n

TGL is a technology-infused golf league co-founded by Woods and Rory McIlroy<\/a> based at SoFi Center in Florida.<\/p>\n

The matches are a combination of conventional golf and simulated action played out on a video screen.<\/p>\n

TGL features six teams made up of top PGA Tour<\/a> players with a 15-match regular season that includes seven matches in nine days.<\/p>\n

The top four teams qualify for the TGL playoffs, culminating in a best-of-three Finals.<\/p>\n

When can fans expect to see Woods make his return?<\/p>\n

The fast-growing league tees off again on December 28 when defending champions Atlanta Drive \u2013 led by Justin Thomas<\/a> \u2013 face Xander Schauffele\u2019s New York Golf Club.<\/p>\n

But fans will seemingly have to wait a little longer to catch a glimpse of Woods as his Jupiter Links GC team start their season against Schauffele\u2019s and co on January 13.<\/p>\n

The matches come thick and fast and fans will almost certainly have one eye on the standout clash on March 1 when Woods takes on McIlroy’s Boston Common team.<\/p>\n

The TGL will mostly be played on Monday and Tuesday nights but the season will end with a three-night marathon taking place on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, March 1, 2 and 3 with the playoffs beginning on March 17.<\/p>\n

However, first up for Woods will be the season opener and his first appearance since the final TGL regular season match of last season.<\/p>\n

The 49-year-old\u2019s last match took place on March 4 which saw Jupiter Link fail to make the play-offs.<\/p>\n

There is a small chance that Woods could make an appearance in the lead up to TGL should he opt to continue his ongoing trend of playing at the PNC Championship in December.<\/p>\n

Woods will no doubt be keen to get as much high-level practice in as possible ahead of his return to golf.<\/p>\n

He has not played at Tour level since featuring at The Open Championship in July 2024 after undergoing further back surgery last September – his sixth back operation in the last ten years<\/p>\n

Woods underwent surgery in 2023 to correct an ongoing ankle issue after pulling out of the Masters that year.<\/p>\n
