Gabriel Martinelli has been voted as our Player of the Month for September after a string of fine performances across all competitions.<\/p>\n
Our Brazilian won 54% of the votes, beating other nominees Martin Zubimendi, Gabriel and Leandro Trossard to the award.<\/p>\n
Gabi came off the bench to devastating effect on two occasions during September. Having been introduced at 0-0 in our Champions League clash against Athletic Club, it took just 37 seconds for Martinelli to open the scoring, charging through before slotting his effort past Unai Simon.<\/p>\n
The winger helped round off the win with a fine run and pass to Trossard, who did the rest to give us a 2-0 victory in Bilbao.<\/p>\n
A few days later, Gabi was at it again to help us secure a crucial point against Manchester City. Coming on late with the game at 1-0 to the visitors, Gabi latched onto Ebere Eze’s inch-perfect pass to lob Gianluigi Donnarumma in the 93rd minute, a strike that earned the BBC’s Match of the Day Goal of the Month and was nominated for the Premier League’s prize.<\/p>\n
Gabi featured in every match in September, coming off the bench against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest, as well as starting our win over Port Vale in the Carabao Cup third round.<\/p>\n
It is the fifth time in Gabi’s Gunners career that he has topped our monthly poll, but the first since January 2022 when he completed back-to-back triumphs either side of the new year. He also won twice in 2019\/20, his debut campaign in north London.<\/p>\n
