Point to Point Racing returns to Portrush this Saturday and the good news is that the weather is set to play ball.<\/p>\n
There are six races on the card – the first off at 1pm with the final race of the day pencilled in for around 3.30pm.<\/p>\n
Most eyes, however, will be on the Porter and Co. Open Race at 2.30pm when history could be made.<\/p>\n
Winged Leader, who currently holds the Irish Point to Point record with 33 wins, could become the most successful horse ever if he wins.<\/p>\n
The 11-year-old is tied with Still William, who racked up his wins in the sixties, and will be well fancied to edge clear on home ground.<\/p>\n
The horse, trained by DM Christie, is owned by local duo Jennifer O’Kane and John Hegarty, long-time supporters of the Route Hunt Point to Point Races, so there will be plenty of celebrating should he come home in front.<\/p>\n
Gates open at 11.30am and there will be on site parking, bookies, catering and a bar.<\/p>\n
