\n It was first spotted in May and quickly captured people’s attention, who took photos while tried to get near it.\n<\/p>\n
\n Advice was quickly issued warning people not to harass the animal amid safety concerns.\n<\/p>\n
\n The Marine Management Organisation previously issued a statement in a bid to protect the dolphin from harm after a series of videos of people interacting with it were distributed online.\n<\/p>\n

\n Dolphins, along with other marine life, are protected by law and it is an offence to intentionally disturb them. The penalty for doing so includes six months in prison or an unlimited fine.\n<\/p>\n
\n In July, Reggie was injured in a suspected boat propellor incident and marks could clearly be seen on its side where skin had been mauled.\n<\/p>\n
\n Now that it has left the area, the MMO has urged people to continue to respect marine life and to follow the Marine Coastal Wildlife Code.\n<\/p>\n
\n The whereabouts of the dolphin\u2019s new location has not been disclosed to protect its safety – but it was reportedly last spotted on September 30 some distance from Lyme.\n<\/p>\n
\n A spokesperson for MMO said: \u201cWe can confirm that Reggie the bottlenose dolphin, with his distinctive propeller scars from this summer, has been sighted outside the Lyme Bay area.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u00a0\u201cWe urge anyone who encounters a dolphin in the wild, either when on or in the water, to follow the Marine and Coastal Wildlife Code. This includes keeping at least 100 metres distance, never attempting to, or seeking interaction and to move away calmly if the animal approaches you.
