{"id":190823,"date":"2025-10-10T16:13:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T16:13:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/190823\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T16:13:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T16:13:10","slug":"two-time-title-winning-womens-super-league-head-coach-leaves-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/190823\/","title":{"rendered":"Two-time title-winning Women&#8217;s Super League head coach leaves club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img width=\"1200\" height=\"783\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Fea_v_Yor_0188.jpg\" class=\"attachment- size- wp-post-image\" alt=\"Women's Super League\" decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Two-time title-winning boss Lindsay Anfield has left York Valkyrie after five seasons in charge.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Anfield joined York in 2021 from Castleford Tigers and masterminded Grand Final wins in her second and third years there, when they became the first club to retain the Women\u2019s Super League title.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Under Anfield, Valkyrie were also back-to-back league leaders, in 2022 and 2023 and reached the Challenge Cup final four years ago.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Anfield, who was Women\u2019s Super League coach of the year in 2023, said: \u201cI feel privileged to have been part of so many players\u2019 lives and development and contributed to the growth of the Valkyrie.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI wanted the players to feel valued and have positive experiences on and off the field. If I\u2019ve achieved that, it has all been thanks to the support of the staff I\u2019ve worked with and the buy-in from the girls.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI\u2019ve loved seeing so many girls taking up rugby league in York and following in the footsteps of the Valkyrie players who are outstanding role models for the game in the city.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOver the past five seasons, I\u2019ve worked to grow the female section of the club and I hope I leave the club in a better place than when I started.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI\u2019m proud to have given something back to the sport and I wish the players and staff all the very best as they continue their rugby journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Serious About Rugby League has launched a brand new podcast which can be watched in full on our <a class=\"in-cell-link\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/86PEmyarFog?si=Ln5Z8V7doIyNL5fn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">YouTube channel here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Club chairman Clint Goodchild paid tribute to the departing\u00a0director of rugby, saying she\u00a0\u201cplayed an enormous role in shaping what the York Valkyrie have become\u201d.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">He said: \u201cHer impact goes far beyond wins and trophies; she has helped build a culture of professionalism, belief and pride that has transformed women\u2019s rugby league in York and across the country.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cUnder her leadership the Valkyrie have gone from strength to strength, establishing themselves as one of the most respected and successful teams in the game.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cOn behalf of everyone at York RLFC I want to thank Lindsay for everything she\u2019s contributed, as a coach, a leader, and a pioneer.
