{"id":191141,"date":"2025-10-10T19:17:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T19:17:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/191141\/"},"modified":"2025-10-10T19:17:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T19:17:08","slug":"leading-favourite-jasper-philipsen-withdraws-from-paris-tours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/191141\/","title":{"rendered":"Leading favourite Jasper Philipsen withdraws from Paris-Tours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"ae2cb31e-c419-421f-827c-76057c11e4b5\">This year&#8217;s edition of <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/paris-tours-elite\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/paris-tours-elite\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paris-Tours<\/a> has lost its leading favourite <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/jasper-philipsen\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/riders\/jasper-philipsen\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jasper Philipsen<\/a> after his team confirmed that the Belgian fastman is finally not on the roster for France&#8217;s top autumn Classic on Sunday.\u200b<\/p>\n<p><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2024\/alpecin-deceuninck\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/road\/teams\/uci-worldtour\/2024\/alpecin-deceuninck\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alpecin-Deceuninck<\/a> announced in a social media post that Philipsen, 27, was &#8220;not feeling fully fit&#8221; and will not, as had been expected, be heading to the start of the 211km race in Chartres on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"elk-seasonal\" href=\"\" data-url=\"\" target=\"_blank\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\" data-hl-processed=\"none\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"ae2cb31e-c419-421f-827c-76057c11e4b5-2\"><a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/races\/paris-tours-2024\/elite-men\/results\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/races\/paris-tours-2024\/elite-men\/results\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u200bThird in last year&#8217;s Paris-Tours when he won the sprint behind the breakaway,<\/a> the best result of his three participations to date, it is as yet unclear if the season is now over for Philipsen, or if he will return to racing in the final raft of autumn events next week.<\/p>\n<p>You may like<\/p>\n<p>\u200bPhilipsen was unstoppable a week ago in the <a data-analytics-id=\"inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/races\/sparkassen-muensterland-giro-2025\/elite-men\/results\/\" data-before-rewrite-localise=\"https:\/\/www.cyclingnews.com\/races\/sparkassen-muensterland-giro-2025\/elite-men\/results\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sparkassen M\u00fcnsterland Giro<\/a>. But after his victory in Germany&#8217;s last race of the season, he then abandoned in Binche-Chimay-Binche on Tuesday after being dropped mid-race when the field split apart, with the win going to fellow-Belgian sprinter Jordi Meeus (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe).<\/p>\n<p>\u200b&#8221;Jasper was originally scheduled to start [Paris-Tours],&#8221; Alpecin-Deceuninck wrote in their social media post. &#8220;But will skip the race after not feeling fully fit since Binche. We wish him a speedy recovery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u200bThe Belgian star has had a rollercoaster season, albeit interspersed with notable successes.
