Tennis is a brutal sport, and for one former top 20 player, he\u2019s packed his rackets into his bags for the final time. <\/p>\n

This year has seen a number of retirements from the game, with Simona Halep calling time on her career<\/a> back in February.<\/p>\n

Caroline Garcia ended her career after the US Open<\/a>, and she insisted that it was a decision she was satisfied with. <\/p>\n

In 2024, Andy Murray retired from tennis after the Olympics<\/a>, with Rafael Nadal following suit at the Davis Cup<\/a> to leave Novak Djokovic<\/a> as the last man standing from the game\u2019s big three.<\/p>\n

Now, with the dust settling on 2025, the curtain has come down on a very accomplished career for another player who has formed part of the ATP<\/a> Tour for a number of years. <\/p>\n

The 37-year-old looked to be going well in Valencia, defeating the number one seed and fellow Spanish player Pedro Martinez in the last 32 of the tournament. <\/p>\n

Ramos-Vinolas also won his round of 16 match but had no answer to a dominant display from Jan Choinski in the quarterfinal, with the Great Britain performer winning 6-4, 7-5. <\/p>\n

At 37-years-old, Ramos-Vinolas was scratching around on the Challenger Tour and hadn\u2019t played on the ATP Tour since a first-round exit at the US Open back in 2024. <\/p>\n

Now, Ramos-Vinolas can look back on a fine career which saw him beat some of the game\u2019s biggest players and achieve some things that other players can only dream of. <\/p>\n

Reaching a career-high ranking of 17th in the world, Ramos-Vinolas produced several good performances over the years. <\/p>\n

As well as the achievements above, there were also some very good performances against the best players to have existed across his career. <\/p>\n

At the 2015 Shanghai Masters, he overcame Roger Federer<\/a> in the round of 32 in one of the biggest wins of his career, showcasing his quality as a player. <\/p>\n

Ramos-Vinolas also had a good win over Andy Murray<\/a> in 2017 when he beat him at the Monte Carlo Masters on his way to the final. <\/p>\n

In the latter stages of his career, Ramos-Vinolas was one of the big-hitters on the Challenger Tour and claimed 12 titles, reaching a further eight finals before losing out at the final hurdle. <\/p>\n
