After Activision’s existing Tony Hawk’s team Vicarious Visions was absorbed by Blizzard, fans began to lose hope the third and fourth entries would ever return. Fortunately, the independent team at Iron Galaxy saved the day, and while the latest release has been well-received so far, it seems there’s been a questionable discovery.<\/p>\n

As spotted by fans of the Birdman, the new Waterpark map in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4<\/a> has a bin with a box inside of it that looks very similar to the packaging from Activision’s now-dead rhythm IP Guitar Hero<\/a>. Instead of being called Guitar Hero, it’s apparently a fictional game known as ‘Banjo Champion’, but it’s easy to see the reference.<\/p>\n

This has resulted in Iron Galaxy issuing an immediate apology \u2013 mentioning how it has the “utmost respect for anyone who makes games” and noting how the “next update” will be removing this from the game environment. It further claims it’s not sure how this got in the final game, and is now investigating it.<\/p>\n

“We have the utmost respect for anyone who makes games, we\u2019re investigating how that got in there in the first place. Thank you to the community for bringing this to our attention and we\u2019ll be removing that from the environment art in the next update.”<\/p>\n

Funnily enough, Neversoft (the original THPS developer) worked on the Guitar Hero series for part of its life before closing its doors in 2014, and with this in mind, the latest discovery hasn’t gone down well in some corners of the internet \u2013 with one fan interpreting this as Iron Galaxy not showing “respect for Neversoft”<\/a>, although others have asked Iron Galaxy to keep it in, suggesting it’s a “hilarious” fit.<\/p>\n

Apart from the obvious idea the guitar series is officially “in the bin”, a wilder theory coming from the outlet Kotaku suggests it could be a joke about how Neversoft was “forced off” the Tony Hawk series to develop new Guitar Hero games and help with other titles back in the day before being shut down. Regardless of how this is being interpreted, it’s now being removed. This same fictional title was also seen in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Guitar Hero series debuted on the PlayStation 2 in 2005\/06, and the last entry in the series was Guitar Hero Live<\/a> on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in 2015.
