A cyclist may have one specialty, while riders like Tadej Pogacar seem to have several. Other riders, such as Tom Pidcock<\/a>, seem to have overcome fear as one of their specialties. The Brit has repeatedly demonstrated his incredible descending skills, and thanks to a new video on YouTube, we know that Pidcock has certainly not lost his touch.Anyone who cycles in and around Calpe knows that there is a chance you might run into a professional cyclist. That’s what happened to Artem Shcherbyna, a Ukrainian cyclist. On his YouTube channel<\/a>, we have already seen more videos<\/a> with experienced cyclists, such as Tadej Pogacar, earlier this year during a training session with the Slovenian.<\/p>\n

Now, Pidcock is the pro cyclist in question. \u201cHow far is Calpe?\u201d asks the Brit from Q36.5 at the very beginning of the video. \u201cThat way and about an hour,\u201d is the answer. \u201cPerfect,\u201d says Pidcock, who then sets off. What follows is an enjoyable ride of about twenty minutes.<\/p>\n

\"TomPidcock dives downhill Galibier-styleIn this video, we first see Pidcock pedaling uphill, followed by the descent. It is a skill in which we have often seen the Brit excel. Earlier this year, his sponsor, Red Bull, released a video featuring Pidcock showcasing his incredible cycling skills<\/a>. Fellow rider Alberto Bettiol criticized this. The entire video, which can be viewed below, is worth watching, but the section from 12 minutes and 36 seconds onwards is particularly special.<\/p>\n

In no more than four turns, Pidcock manages to open up a gap of about thirty meters. Tight turns, minimal braking, high speed… it all looks easy, but it must also be scary. Can he use those skills in the two big events he has scheduled for Saturday and Sunday?<\/p>\n

Pidcock’s crazy plan: not just in downhill racing, but also in his choice of racesPidcock wants to carry his good form from the Giro dell’Emilia, where he finished second, into the Tour of Lombardy. He will make his debut in The Race of the Falling Leaves, but a day later, he will be back in South Limburg for the World Gravel World Championships. \u201cWhy? He wanted to end the season in a fun way. Off-road races give Tom a good feeling,\u201d coach Kurt Bogaerts told Sporza<\/a>.\u201cBut they didn’t make it easy for us by changing the location and date of the World Gravel Championships.\u201d The World Championships were originally scheduled for October 19, but have been moved up a week. So we will see Pidcock on gravel on Sunday, one day after Il Lombardia. He has big ambitions there, he revealed to Cyclingnews<\/a>. \u201cIf I end up on the podium at Lombardia, I can be super happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

With Tadej Pogacar in the mix, that looks like a nice challenge. Pidcock has already warned the Slovenian that he is in good shape. \u201cI feel better after doing the Worlds. Before, I felt blocked and perhaps didn’t get the balance right between resting and training after the Vuelta. After a hard day at the Worlds, I feel like I’ve opened up for the final races of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n
