The Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins has admitted that he never intended to \u201cincite a feud\u201d with Yungblud<\/a> after his comments on the star\u2019s VMAs tribute to Ozzy Osbourne faced backlash.<\/p>\n In September, Yungblud honoured the late Black Sabbath frontman alongside Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Perry, and Steven Tyler, with a performance of Ozzy\u2019s greatest hits. The Darkness guitarist Dan Hawkins reacted to\u00a0the tribute<\/a>\u00a0negatively, deeming it \u201canother nail in the coffin of rock\u2019n\u2019rolla.\u201d<\/p>\n Dan also described the display as \u201ccynical, nauseating and, more importantly, shit\u201d. He concluded by calling those involved \u201ca bunch of bellends\u201d.<\/p>\n His brother Justin, also a member of The Darkness, then took to his YouTube channel to add his thoughts. Among other things, he said, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t ring authentic. It\u2019s rock\u2019n\u2019roll, but not as we know it. It kind of has this Disney veneer over the top of it, like it\u2019s rock\u2019n\u2019roll seen through an Instagram filter of some sort.\u201d<\/p>\n After his comments originally received backlash, he retaliated in a video, stating, \u201cI don\u2019t think I criticised Yungblud\u2019s spirit<\/a>. I admire that as much as the next person. What I was saying was that it comes off like a TV personality doing rock.\u201d However, he admitted that he found the performance \u201ccringe\u201d.<\/p>\n Now, he has weighed in again. In a new video on his Justin Hawkins Rides Again YouTube channel titled \u2018Yungblud And The Cost of Having An Opinion\u2019, Hawkins opened up about the online discourse, sharing: \u201cThere\u2019s nothing feudy about it, especially when it comes to my reactions to the VMAs performance. None of that was intended to incite a feud.\u201d<\/p>\n He turned his attention to Yungblud, sharing, \u201cI think that Yungblud is a very well-connected and, as such, dangerous artist<\/a>. He\u2019s an individual who is not the sort of bear you\u2019d go round poking.\u201d<\/p>\n Hawkins was originally disdainful towards Yungblud\u2019s alleged use of autotune during the tribute. He addressed this, saying, \u201cBut I think that when there\u2019s real-time pitch correction happening and stuff like that, and the other observations I made about the overall delivery of it\u2026 you\u2019re talking about somebody that came from musical theatre via Disney and is now being lauded as the future of rock. And if they have real-time pitch correction and that kind of background, I think it\u2019s OK to be a bit skeptical about it.\u201d<\/p>\n Referencing the backlash received, he added, \u201cI know that\u2019s not a very popular opinion but from the reaction community if you can\u2019t say something negative about something that leaves you only one opinion available to you and that\u2019s not how life works. Everybody\u2019s allowed to say whatever they want<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n Hawkins finished by stressing he has no bad blood for the 27-year-old: \u201cI\u2019m not slagging him off because\u2026 I don\u2019t even think I\u2019m slagging it off actually.
