Nick Kyrgios has been largely inactive during the 2025 ATP season, having featured at just five tour-level events amid injury struggles. <\/p>\n

The Australian star played at the Brisbane International earlier this year, before entering the Australian Open, which marked his first Grand Slam appearance since 2022. <\/p>\n

Following two early exits in Indian Wells and Miami in March, Kyrgios was sidelined until July<\/a> with both wrist and shoulder injuries. <\/p>\n

He briefly returned to action at the Washington Open but suffered another setback, which resulted in his withdrawal from the US Open<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Now, in an episode of \u2018Unscripted\u2019, Kyrgios<\/a> has issued an update on his fitness and future in professional tennis. <\/p>\n

He said: \u201cI\u2019m training pretty much every day and playing. I\u2019m just not competing. The schedule\u2019s nearly done, tournament-wise, but there are a couple of events that I\u2019m kind of preparing for. <\/p>\n

\u201cI do know that I\u2019m getting to the end of my tennis career now, especially with all these injuries, like I can\u2019t do another surgery where it\u2019s like you\u2019re out for another six to nine months.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t want to get to a point where you want to start hating your profession or what you do. When you get on the court and you can\u2019t even practice without pain and stuff like that, it kind of leaves a bit of a sour taste in your mouth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Confirming if he will play at the Australian Open in 2026, Kyrgios responded: \u201cYeah, I\u2019ll probably play the Aussie Open in some way.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not too sure what events I\u2019ll play, but I definitely will say goodbye at the Aussie Open at least one more time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kyrgios was then asked if next season would be his last on the ATP<\/a> Tour. <\/p>\n

He replied: \u201cI don\u2019t know yet, like, I\u2019m to the point where my body is\u2026 It\u2019s just hard because I know what it takes to be at that level, and whether or not you can string those days together. That\u2019s what\u2019s tough.\u201d<\/p>\n

After reaching the quarterfinals at the 2022 US Open, Kyrgios did not play at a Grand Slam until the 2025 Australian Open.<\/p>\n

In Melbourne this year, the 30-year-old crashed out of the singles tournament in his opening clash with Britain\u2019s Jacob Fearnley, losing in straight sets. <\/p>\n

He also played doubles at the first major of the year, partnering compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis, with whom he clinched the 2022 Australian Open title. <\/p>\n
