Sam Fender<\/a> has announced an upcoming collaboration with Sir Elton John<\/a> on a new song, \u2018Talk To You\u2019.<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter shared the news on social media this afternoon (October 13), revealing that the song will be out on Friday (October 17) and feature the \u201clegend\u201d on piano. He also shared the single artwork, which features a black and white photo of two young girls.<\/p>\n

John responded on his Instagram story, sharing the post and writing, \u201cIncredibly excited for this,\u201d alongside a black heart emoji.<\/p>\n

The pair have previously performed together<\/a> and spoken highly of each other, and Fender\u2019s announcement comes after he teased a collaboration with his \u201cgood friend playing piano\u201d on Instagram yesterday.<\/p>\n

Fender has included the song on his recent setlists, giving it a live debut during his show in Boston on September 17 and playing it another eight times, most recently in Toronto on October 3.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The singer-songwriter first teased the collaboration last week, with an advert that also seemingly confirmed the news of a deluxe edition of \u2018People Watching\u2019<\/a>, his latest album. The largest part of the advert\u2019s text read, \u201cTrack 02. Talk To You (ft.)\u201d before an obscured name, leading people to question who the featured artist could be.<\/p>\n

There are also currently two countdowns on Fender\u2019s website \u2013\u00a0one appears to be counting down to the release of \u2018Talk To You\u2019, and fans have speculated that the other could be counting down until the deluxe edition of the album is released.<\/p>\n

NME gave \u2018People Watching\u2019 a four-star review upon its release in February<\/a>, writing, \u201cFeeling existential, uprooted and disconnected from his old working-class life thanks to his rapid rise to fame, the British guitar hero channels it all into his gorgeous third album.\u201d<\/p>\n

The review finished: \u201cReflective, analytical and vulnerable, \u2018People Watching\u2019 does exactly what the title may suggest: takes stock of the characters, friends and loved ones who have made Fender the person he is today. He approaches each track with sensitivity as he looks back on his life so far \u2013 perhaps even with an inkling of guilt \u2013 and contemplates who he may be next.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2018People Watching\u2019, which earned the biggest opening week in the UK for a British act<\/a> since Harry Styles<\/a> with \u2018Harry House\u2019<\/a> in 2021, is up for this year\u2019s Mercury Prize<\/a>. Fender will find out if the album wins on Thursday (October 16).<\/p>\n

He\u2019ll be performing at the ceremony, which is taking place in his hometown of Newcastle. He\u2019s up against artists including CMAT<\/a>, Fontaines D.C.<\/a>, Pa Salieu<\/a>, PinkPantheress<\/a>, Pulp<\/a> and Wolf Alice<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Next month, Fender is heading to Australia to continue his \u2018People Watching\u2019 tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n
