Super League hopefuls York Knights have made another high profile signing from the top-flight.<\/p>\n

French international Justin Sangare has joined the Betfred Championship league leaders and 1895 Cup holders for the 2026 campaign after spending this season with Salford Red Devils.<\/p>\n

Sangare began his career at Toulouse Olympique \u2013 the club who beat York in this year\u2019s second-tier Grand Final \u2013 before joining Leeds Rhinos ahead of the 2023 campaign.<\/p>\n

After 42 appearances for Leeds he was released from the final season of his contract last October and signed a two-year deal with Salford the following month.<\/p>\n

He featured for the Red Devils 25 times, but his spell there has been cut short by the club\u2019s well-publicised financial crisis.<\/p>\n

York Knights sign another Super League player<\/p>\n

Knights coach Mark Applegarth said: \u201cI\u2019m delighted to have him. He offers a different sort of perspective for us in terms of a front-rower.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has got a lot of impact and a lovely offload game. He\u2019ll create some dents in any defence. I\u2019m looking forward to working with him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sangare, who has played eight times for France, added: \u201cI am excited and honoured to play for York. I am ready to battle for the club and be a part of the history of the York Knights.\u201d<\/p>\n

York will find out this week if they have secured a place in Super League for 2026. Other signings out of the top-flight include Paul Vaughan from Warrington Wolves, ex-Castleford Tigers captain Sam Wood and Wakefield Trinity\u2019s Josh Griffin.<\/p>\n
