Gloucester<\/a> are battling to keep hold of Wales<\/a> scrum-half Tomos Williams<\/a>, who is now in the final year of his contract at Kingsholm but is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal to keep him in the West Country beyond June.<\/p>\n

Williams, 30, joined the Cherry & Whites on a two-year deal from Cardiff at the start of last season, and his brilliant form saw him crowned PREM Rugby Player of the Season.<\/p>\n

It also earned him a place on the Lions<\/a> tour of Australia, one of only two Welsh stars \u2014 Ospreys<\/a> ace Jac Morgan<\/a>, who is also coming to the end of his deal, being the other \u2014 to make Andy Farrell\u2019s series-winning squad.<\/p>\n

He played against Argentina<\/a> in Dublin before suffering a tour-ending hamstring injury against the Western Force<\/a> but has made a full recovery and played in Gloucester\u2019s three PREM Rugby games this season.<\/p>\n

He told BBC Gloucestershire before the start of the season that he was trying to put the disappointment of his tour-ending injury firmly behind him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI try not to dwell on anything that goes wrong; you can get bogged down in that. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s healthy from my point of view anyway.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m proud to get selected for the squad in the first place, proud to play for the Lions. I\u2019ve done that. I think of the positives rather than get bogged down in the negatives,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

But Williams and Gloucester are yet to hit the heights of last season, losing all three games so far and taking only two bonus points, with only Newcastle<\/a> Red Bulls, who are yet to pick up a point, below them in the table.<\/p>\n

Gloucester were reported to be willing to make him the club\u2019s highest-paid player to ward off interest, but he is understood to have a huge offer \u2014 thought to be from breakaway competition R360 \u2014 on the table.<\/p>\n
