Veteran speedster Mohammed Shami has yet again stunned the cricket world, but this time, not with the ball, but with his fiery words for the current Indian cricket team management. Mohammed Shami hinted at the conspiracy behind his omission from India\u2019s squads for the Australia tour.<\/p>\n

The seasoned Indian fast bowler was overlooked for the upcoming three-match ODI and T20I series<\/a> in Australia, citing fitness concerns and form. Now, Shame exposed the communication gap between him, the selectors, and the team management in a fresh jab at the think tank.<\/p>\n

The Bengal pacer has categorically dismissed all fitness rumors. Shami made it clear that he is match-ready and raring to go. Launching a scathing attack on the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir<\/a>, chief selector Ajit Agarkar<\/a>, and new captain Shubman Gill, Shami said that if he can play Ranji matches, then he is more than capable of bowling in 50-over games too.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) named Shami in Bengal\u2019s squad for the upcoming Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season, starting on October 15, and this proves he is fully fit.<\/p>\n

Mohammed Shami was quoted as saying by India Today: \u201cThe Indian team didn’t communicate with me regarding fitness. I am not the one who would inform them about my fitness\u2014they have to ask me. If I can play four-day cricket, then why can’t I play a 50-over game? If I wasn’t fit, I’d be at the NCA and not playing here in the Ranji Trophy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ajit Agarkar explained why Mohammed Shami wasn\u2019t considered for the Australia tour<\/p>\n

Shami\u2019s revelations have sparked a fresh debate, especially after Agarkar offered a completely different explanation for his exclusion. The Indian chief selector recently told reporters that there had been no fresh updates on Shami\u2019s fitness, and he hasn\u2019t played much domestic cricket lately\u2014just one match for Bengal and one in the Duleep Trophy\u2014and that\u2019s why he was not picked.<\/p>\n

Agarkar made it clear that the Indian selectors want to see the Indian pacer play more regularly before considering him again for the national selection.<\/p>\n

He recently stated, \u201cI have no update. He has played in the Duleep Trophy. But in the last two or three years, he hasn’t played a lot of cricket. I think he played one game for Bengal and one in the Duleep Trophy. As a performer, we know what he can do, but he has to play cricket.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not my responsibility: Mohammed Shami on Ajit Agarkar\u2019s fitness report cry<\/p>\n

Reacting to Agarkar\u2019s comments, Shami bluntly said that it was not his job. He was quoted as saying by Revsportz: \u201cAbout giving updates, it\u2019s not my responsibility to give or ask for one. It\u2019s not my job to give an update on my fitness. My job is to go to the NCA, prepare, and play matches. Giving an update is not my responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 34-year-old pacer last played for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He finished the tournament as one of the leading wicket takers, but despite his strong performances, he was dropped from the team, citing his fitness issues.<\/p>\n
