Professor Green<\/a> has revealed he is now in contact with his ex-wife Millie Mackintosh<\/a> despite \u2018very nearly\u2019 calling off their wedding.<\/p>\n The rapper<\/a>, 41, was married to the Made in Chelsea star<\/a>, 35, for three years until they split in 2016.<\/p>\n Although the former couple have rarely spoken about their relationship over the years, in the past he did make scathing remarks.<\/p>\n The performer \u2013 real name Stephen Paul Manderson \u2013 previously appeared to label their marriage \u2018the one bloody mistake I made\u2019 <\/a>and said he \u2018felt like a novelty\u2019 <\/a>spending time with her rich London<\/a> socialite friends.<\/p>\n However, he\u2019s now given an insight into what happened between them \u2013 and how they are now on good terms nearly a decade after divorcing. \u00a0<\/p>\n During an appearance on Jamie Laing\u2019s Great Company podcast<\/a>, Professor Green said he and Millie both felt \u2018pressure\u2019 to tie the knot, which nearly saw him cancel their wedding.<\/p>\n \t\t \t\t \u2018If there wasn\u2019t that pressure, we may have never got married. It very nearly didn\u2019t happen,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n \u2018I remember having a conversation with my two best mates, Lewis and Phoenix<\/a>. \u201cAm I getting cold feet? What\u2019s going on here?\u201d And one of them said yes. One of them said no. I won\u2019t put him in it, because it\u2019s not their responsibility.<\/p>\n \u2018I made my own decision. We made our decision, and we didn\u2019t get married for the wrong reasons. We loved each other.\u2019<\/p>\n But, he added: \u2018It was probably an element of trauma bonding. And it takes a lot to get to a place of going, \u201cI had a significant part in that, 50% at least, because there were two of us in the situation, and it didn\u2019t work out\u201d. But hopefully we can both go forward and find happiness and belonging.\u2019<\/p>\n Reflecting on the attention the couple generated when together, Professor Green said it was \u2018crazy\u2019.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018The pressure that came from that\u2026it just made it impossible in hindsight to have a really truly authentic relationship,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n He went on to explain that he\u2019d recently reconnected with his ex-wife to support each other and reflect on their undiagnosed ADHD.<\/p>\n \u2018There was undiagnosed neurodivergence between both of us. We had a conversation about this recently, and it makes sense.\u2019<\/p>\n Speaking of his ex, he added: \u2018I don\u2019t want to sit here and speak ill of her at all. There isn\u2019t any resentment. She is gorgeous.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018We were just not good for each other at that time.\u2019<\/p>\n Millie previously admitted that ahead of their lavish 2013 wedding at Babington House in Somerset<\/a> that the relationship \u2018wasn\u2019t right but I was too scared to call it off because of the shame of letting everyone down\u2019.<\/p>\n However, in 2018 she shut down claims their upbringings were the \u2018foundation for the breakup\u2019.<\/p>\n While Millie is an heiress of Quality Street \u2013 which was founded by her great-grandfather and great-uncle, her ex was raised by his grandmother, great-grandmother and uncles in a two-bedroom flat on the Northwold housing estate in Hackney.<\/p>\n \u2018Those comments only degrade the relationship and time we spent together, and I certainly don\u2019t feel that way about that period of my life or Stephen,\u2019 she told You magazine.<\/p>\n \t\t \u2018We went our separate ways amicably. Sometimes it can be as simple as finding yourselves on different paths, and for us it was about respecting those journeys and each other\u2019s wishes by parting ways. We have since both moved on.
