Despite a series of setbacks in rebooting Blade for the MCU, the cast and crew tied to the project remain committed. That includes Mia Goth (Frankenstein<\/a>, Ti West\u2019s X trilogy), who recently confirmed that she\u2019s still attached to the reboot.<\/p>\n

Goth, speaking with Elle<\/a> while on a press tour for Frankenstein, doesn\u2019t have any updates on the troubled production itself but verifies that she\u2019s still on board.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the actor feels the delays speak to Marvel\u2019s determination to get it right. \u201cIt\u2019s for the best that it\u2019s taken the time that it has. They want to do it right,\u201d Goth tells Elle.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no secret that Marvel has struggled immensely to launch a new Blade movie, which has been bumped all over the release calendar since the initial announcement in 2019. That\u2019s also not helped when it comes to retaining talent behind the camera. The movie is without a director at the moment, with\u00a0Yann Demange (\u201cLovecraft Country\u201d) departing the project in the wake of\u00a0Bassam Tariq (Mogul Mowgli) exiting the film back in 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Goth\u2019s attachment was initially announced three years ago<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Marvel Studios chief\u00a0Kevin Feige recently confirmed that star\u00a0Mahershala Ali is also still attached as the vampire-slaying Daywalker.<\/p>\n

The troubled film, at one point, enlisted costume designer\u00a0Ruth E. Carter<\/a> for a scrapped shoot that would\u2019ve put Blade in the same era as Ryan Coogler\u2019s\u00a0Sinners<\/a>. When that fell through, Carter bought back the costumes for Coogler\u2019s film. The MCU has since moved on from a period setting for its reboot.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve landed on modern day, \u201cFeige confirmed. \u201cWhich is why we could give those costumes back to Ruth, and that\u2019s what we\u2019re focusing on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Ali and Goth are actors in high demand these days, with Ali fresh off the box office hit Jurassic World: Rebirth and Goth taking on a new massive franchise with Star Wars: Starfighter,\u00a0so Marvel will need to keep moving forward on Blade.<\/p>\n
