A man has died after being hit by a car in St Helens<\/a>. Emergency services were called to Kiln Lane in Eccleston, St Helens at around 9.20pm yesterday, Tuesday, October 14, following reports of a serious crash involving a red and black Renault and a pedestrian.<\/a><\/p>\n The pedestrian, an 82-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. An 81-year-old man is under investigation<\/a> for causing death by careless driving in relation to the crash.<\/p>\n CCTV enquiries and forensic investigations<\/a> were carried out last night and are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the crash.<\/p>\n Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: \u201cOur thoughts are with the man\u2019s family during this difficult time and they are being supported by specially trained officers following the incident last night on Kiln Lane.<\/p>\n \u201cAn 81-year-old male is under investigation for causing death by careless driving in relation to the collision.
