Former WBO heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs<\/a> has urged a young star to walk away from the sport in a shock statement.<\/p>\n

Briggs suffered just a handful of defeats throughout the course of his professional career, which spanned between 1992 and 2016.<\/p>\n

The Brooklyn-native racked up an outstanding 53 knockout victories during his tenure, proving himself to be one of the hardest punching heavyweights of his generation with a knockout-to-win ratio of 88.3%.<\/p>\n

Briggs achieved his career-long dream of capturing a version of the world heavyweight championship back in November of 2006 when he stopped Belarusian Siarhei Liakhovich in the final round of their bout to capture the WBO heavyweight title.<\/p>\n

Another fighter that has big ambitions of becoming world champion is Ryan Garcia<\/a>, but in an interview with Fight Hype, Briggs sensationally called for \u2018King Ry\u2019 to draw the curtain on his professional career, brandishing him as the \u2018worst fighter ever\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s his name, Garcia? Retire. Retire. Worst fighter ever. Garcia, the worst fighter in boxing history. He s***ged everybody with a jab and a check hook.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe got good fundamentals \u2026 but he ain\u2019t no fighter. All that drama s**t, all that racist s**t, and then to come back and fight like that? You lost to Rolly?<\/p>\n

\u201cBoxing is crazy right now. If those are the superstars, then what? I was right there ringside for all the fights and I was like \u2018damn, horrible.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Garcia has been the subject of intense controversy over the last 18 months, making waves in May of 2024 when it was revealed that he had tested positive for a banned substance in the lead-up to his clash with Devin Haney one month earlier.<\/a><\/p>\n
