The Celtic board spent barely enough money in the summer to strengthen the team despite raking in over \u00a320m in transfer sales.<\/p>\n
And as the fans grow increasingly weary about the lack of communication from the club, Grant reckons all that could have been solved by doing one simple thing.<\/p>\n
Grant told The Go Radio Football Show [54m], \u201cI think that\u2019s what the supporters have been trying to get the answer for, and when they get shrugs on their shoulders, and that\u2019s why it was such a big disappointment to them.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it was simple questions that weren\u2019t answered. And I said to Richard, we were talking off-air about it and saying if Celtic had signed four players in the summertime, and every one of them wasn\u2019t a great success, nobody could have complained. <\/p>\n
\u201cIf they said, well, we spent on four players that have not quite hit the ground running yet, the fans would have accepted that because you get some things wrong.<\/p>\n
Cooney: \u201cWould they?\u201d<\/p>\n
Grant: \u201cYeah, you have to, Paul. You have to. If you spent \u00a330 million, it\u2019s wrong. There\u2019s nothing you can do about it. You still spent \u00a330 million.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re hoping they all hit the ground running, but they may not.\u201d<\/p>\n
Whilst fans will understand the crux of Grant\u2019s argument, throwing money at the transfer window isn\u2019t really what the Celtic support wanted.<\/p>\n
They want a clear vision of how this board is going to take the club forward. How are they going to make the Celtic competitive in Europe again? How does the club scout their players?<\/p>\n
Throwing money around won\u2019t help as the 2023 summer transfer window proved. Fans want to see proper investment in the club with a plan to improve Celtic on and off the park.<\/p>\n
As yet, they have seen nothing of that and only watched the bank balance grow.
