{"id":206336,"date":"2025-10-17T10:44:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/206336\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T10:44:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T10:44:07","slug":"aduo-sought-to-balance-f1-engine-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/206336\/","title":{"rendered":"ADUO Sought to Balance F1 Engine Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(GMM) The FIA has announced a new system designed to prevent any single engine manufacturer from dominating Formula 1 when the radical 2026 regulations begin, introducing the concept of \u201cAdditional Development and Upgrade Opportunities\u201d (ADUO).<\/p>\n<p>The move was confirmed following a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fia.com\/news\/sustainable-energy-heart-latest-updates-approved-fia-world-motor-sport-council\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">World Motor Sport Council meeting<\/a> chaired by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who joined the session via video from the federation\u2019s new London office.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am delighted to be joining you today from our new FIA office in London \u2013 a milestone that reflects our continued efforts to strengthen and globalize our Federation,\u201d Ben Sulayem said.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the FIA said the changes \u2013 covering the survival cell, suspension, aerodynamics, and power unit \u2013 aim to ensure \u201cgreater development opportunities for PU manufacturers who find themselves significantly behind their competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Under the ADUO system, engine performance will be monitored throughout 2026, with formal reviews after Races 6, 12, and 18. Manufacturers judged to be lagging significantly may be granted extra test-bench hours, limited cost cap relief, or additional chances to modify their homologated power units.<\/p>\n<p>The measure is intended to avoid a repeat of 2014, when Mercedes\u2019 hybrid engine dominated for several years.
